Movie Theater Vikings

All three episodes are up on the History Channel website. They have the new episodes one week in advance of the air date. I'll probably watch the third episode tonight. So far, besides the fighting, I've loved the scenes discussing Viking tech: the new boat design, the navigation tools, etc. So far the series has been great, and as LL said, this series is especially good considering the History Channel is doing it. Hopefully they'll keep up the good work.

Yeah, I was really impressed. They must have put a lot of money into the budget for this one. Not much on tv I really care to watch, but this series seems really good so far.

I've been watching it, I think they did a great job, especially for History Channel

I keep expecting aliens to show up but so far it's really good!

Its one of my favorite shows right now. The fact that they try to stay somewhat historically accurate IMO makes it that much better, very well done. Not only that, but its an excellent change of pace from pawn shop BS and aliens.

I came across this while healing from a bad fall... GD glare ice. The History channel had rerun previous episodes prior to newest one this past Sunday. Good entertainment compared to all the reality crap that out there.

I watched it, thought it was okay but not super historical.

There were several Ragnars and Ragnalls, mostly pirate types, one named 'Ragnall' apparently raided all over France and held Paris hostage for a brief period of time.

Vikings largely made their livings with 'Denegold', bribery money from nobles to keep them from attacking their lands.

Not much to really know about them beyond the stories that the Swedes passed down from generation to generation.

I'm waiting to see how they portray Canute the Great and the Jomsvikings.

norsemen were all over the north american continent 100`s of years before colombus.... Google "rhunestones" for proof.....

I think I heard the story from Paul Harvey, in one of his "The Rest of the Story" stories, that the Vikings who'd come to Nova Scotia to settle were doing fine, had reached a point of accommodation with the Indians. Until they brought in a bull. The Indians apparently took it for some sort of malevolent beast/spirit and drove the Vikings off on account of it. So Columbus has a cow to thank for all his fame.

"Vikings" is following a pattern I've noticed with other "R-rated" TV shows, like "Breaking Bad" and "Sons of Anarchy." The first season is dedicated to drawing in the male viewer. No family entanglements, just good 'ol sex and violence and generalized debauchery. The second season shifts gears and introduces "Soap Opera" story lines to try to attract the wimmen in the household, because in the end, if Mama ain't happy, she hides the remote.

I can't watch any more history channel "reality shows" after they've "F'd up" the whole Axe men thing. It really could have been an informative show. Instead they focus on the lowest dumbasses of the crew and show how not to get along and accomplish anything. That set a tone for me NOT to watch any more history channel "reality shows".

Vikings is not a reality show. It is as good as any HBO series.
You are missing out.

I thougt they were starting to jump the shark by introducing the mythological world to what had been a pretty historically accurate show, all though the hot Valkries were sweet.

They didnt make the Travelocity gnome a main character this year did they?

Ok who's watching! So what's up with the monk turned pagan, why is he seeing shit like crazy serpent snake thingys? I'm hoping someone can explain the mysticism out of that part of the show, like maybe he has lead poisoning or is eating crazy berries. Otherwise, the shows good.

Pretty awesome reality show. They get a bunch of dudes that still think they are vikings and they arm them with swords. Mayhem ensues!

It's the only decent show on TV since Breaking Bad ended.

One day I'm going to binge watch Vikings and The Woodwright Shop then go outside and start on my Viking Boat.
