Not something what I would actually call vintage, but doesn't really fit in with the PRS rigs either. Sniper in the sense that the model was used by the Australian SAS chambered in 22-250. A Tikka M55 Sporter in 308 from c.1981. Produced between 1968-1989 IIRC and roughly from 1979 with the pictured stock. Don't have a proper 80's scope for it at the moment, so a 90's Vari-x Tactical 3,5-10 will do.

The Tikka M55 sporter in 22-250 was also used by the Norwegian special forces.
I used one with a "M40" type stock and a Kongsberg/GFM hammerforged barrel as a sniperrifle in the 80'ies and 90'ies. I had two scopes zeroed in Tikka DeLuxe QD mounts and the rifle/barrel/scopes were set up to function with Raufoss M60 146gr 7.62NATO ball, the only relevant ammo at the time as we expected to operate behind Soviet lines.
The rifle would shoot 1moa at 300m with 5 cold shots, 15 minutes intervals, and changing scope between shots. Being young and fit this was also my main hunting rifle for many years.
Here I am back in the day hunting for raindeer on Hardangervidda plateau (of heavy water raid fame) with my Tikka M55. This location, by a small glacier, is a cool 12 hour walk from the car.

An incomplete mockup. The rifle was evidently D&T for the EGW base with 8x40 screws, which are too short for this base and I don't have any spares lying around. (Also can't figure out where the buttplate screws went.) All my 1903 stuff is going on consigment eventually but I figured it would be best to complete it first.

Post-it in the for sale section. Guaranteed it will go to someone who appreciates it.

Love the texturing done on the wood.

Interesting! That's good to know, since I dont remember a mention of Norwegian users in the literature I've browsed.

Stippling.
It's something gritty that's applied with lacquer. It's called sawdust texturing, but don't know if it's actually sawdust.
