Vintage variable scopes

ISO info on the first commercially accepted variable scope. Best unconfirmed info I have found is the Weaver KV, allegedly manufacured 1950 (another source says 1952) - 1960 (or 1964). Can anyone confirm or correct this information. And another request: Does anyone have a Weaver KV that they could photograph and let me use the image for an article appearing on AmericanRifleman.org? You would, of course, receive a photo credit. Thanks!

The Germans had them prior to WW11. One, IIRC was called the Luxor Hell.
Look in the '39 Stoger catalog. Lot of good information there.
