I received my Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 illuminated reticle with the 30mm tube today. I have heard nothing but great things about the company so I wanted to give their Crossfire line a try on my new Savage FVSR 22lr build. This is a short review of the unboxing but later I will post up the results at the range.
Upon opening up the package from FedEx, I found what I had been waiting for.... [img:center][/img] [img:center]

After opening up the box, you can see how nicely the scope was packaged and the first thing you see is the VIP lifetime warranty from Vortex. This warranty is the real deal from what I have been reading. Anything happens to the product and Vortex will take care of you (PERIOD).

You can see how big this scope is once it is out of the box. It feels well built and you can tell Vortex took their time on some key features that I will go over later. My only gripe here is the scope covers. Get yourself some better ones ;-) [img:center]

Moving on to the important stuff... You can see here that the 50mm adjustable objective has very sharp and profound knurling to make it easy to grip and turn. That goes for the power ring and power knob for the illumination as well. Vortex made the yardage numbers easy to see with a simple lift of the head from behind the rifle. The parallax is actually fairly close to the said markings on the objective.

As you can see in this pic, the illumination knob would get in the way if you are actually trying to see what power you are on from straight behind the rifle. This mildot reticle in this scope is set for ranging at 14x.

The parallax is adjustable from 10 yards to infinity. The close range is great for rimfire shooters. It also features an easy adjust eyepiece.

This is an image of the glass at approximately 50 yards set at 6x looking at a backyard shrub against a stone wall that was approximately 20 yards behind it so you can see the depth and clarity but these pictures taken with a Droid X do not do it justice. I know its no USO or S&B but you get the point for a sub $200 scope.
