I've decided to do a slight rebuild of my Savage 93FV Magnum over the winter and need some assistance. The build is on a budget but I need a good scope.I wanted a scope that had turret knobs with no covers, 6-24 (or close to) and something smaller than 50mm but it proved harder to find in my budget. The two scopes I looked at were the Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50mm and the Mueller 8-32x44mm. I've read good reviews about Vortex and a lot of guys suggest the Crossfire for rimfire shooting. Problem is that I worry that the 50mm will look too big on my rifle. The Mueller also seems to have good reviews and I like the knobs on it but I don't like that fact that it is so long. I figured either way I would have something about each scope I was unsure about so the choice boils down to which scope is better. So any help would be appreciated. Other scopes in the $200 area can be mentioned too.
For mounting I was considering doing a Leapers UTG .83" Rail Riser with Weaver Tactical Rings. I like the tactical look so that was the idea about the riser attached to the scope mounts already on the rifle. If that doesn't happen I'll be using an EGW 20MOA rail with higher Weaver rings. Hopefully this will work...
