Fixing to purchase one or the other. Only other scopes I have are nightforce. Will be going on an ai ae mark 3. Used mainly for hunting and target shooting! Also moa!

I have both RZR HD Gen2 and RZR HD AMG. The Gen2 has been on my 338LM for 18 months, no issue, tracks like a champ. I recently got the AMG and all first tests are very positive. As you probably know, the AMG is 20 oz lighter than the Gen2 (28 vs 48), a good point for hunting but the FOV will be a bit better in the Gen2. They both have their reason to be; both scopes will do good target shooting.

How do the eye relief and eyebox compare? I assume the Gen2 performs better in low light with the larger tube diameter, right?

I'm debating between the two myself now for a SCAR 20.

Tube diameter has no relevance for low light performance. Objective diameter, however, does. AMG does a little better in low light than the 3-18x50 Gen 2 and a little worse than the 4.5-27x56 Gen 2.

If you will be using for hunting and having to carry it then the AMG for sure. You save a good deal of weight but that said the AI is not exactly a light weight hunting rifle. What type of hunting?

As mentioned both will be fine with target shooting. I have used both in matches and practice on the range. Both track perfectly and have great glass. The Gen II has a little better eye box and ease to get behind but the AMG is not bad. Tough to compare as the Gen II has one of the best eye boxes I have ever used as it's so easy to get behind.

I second all of those comments. I have both and the biggest differences between the two are a more forgiving eye box on the Gen 2 vs much lighter weight for the AMG. Can’t go wrong with either IMO.

Another vote for AMG if you're going to hunt. Weight is great until you start climbing. You won't be sacrificing mush in the way of usable features and you will save a pound to a pound and a half which is substantial over the course o CD a day or week of carrying.

Compare them both side by side. If you're not concerned about weight then the RZR HD Gen2 may be the right choice. I don't use mine on a hunting rifle so I don't care about the weight either. You can't go wrong with Vortex and if you're MIL/LE they provide a significant discount on the price.

I prefer the AMG to the GenII. I think that the AMG has a touch better glass and the resolution carries out just a bit further to my eyes. The weight, turrets, and parallax adjustment are superior to me on the AMG. I also enjoy the locking diopter adjustment of the eyepiece.

The GenII beats the AMG in the forgiveness of the eyebox.

x2, I got behind both scopes prior to going with the AMG and I find the eyebox to be one of the easier ones out there to get behind, so much so that I couldn't justify the additional weight and slightly higher mag range of the Gen II. I've got one of my two AMGs mounted on an MPA chassis and I have friends running the same chassis with a Kahles K624 and an NF ATACR 7-35 and I don't believe the AMG gives up anything to them in terms of acquiring a nice clear sight picture.

I have both scopes and use the AMG on my hunting gun and leave the GII on the big heavy pigs.

I find the size and features of the AMG to be damn near perfect for a hunting or all-around scope. The eyebox is pretty good making it easy to get a sight picture when trying to get the rifle on game, the turrets lock and are very crisp in adjustment, and I find the image quality excellent. Finally, it's pretty damn light weight for the features and quality you get. If I had to buy one or the other, I'd buy the AMG without thinking twice.
