Rifle Scopes Vortex PST 1-4X on 1x w/ both eyes open.

Those that have these scopes, how well do they work with both eyes open on 1x? Is there any double image, eye strain or goggle eye effect when scanning at close range?

I looked at one at the store and it was unusable with both eyes open. By comparison, the Bushnell 1-6.5x, Leupold VX6 1-6x and Burris 1-4x were ok. Wondering if this scope was a just a dud or if that is common with this model...

scope was defintally a dud or or set on 4x. On mine both eye opend shooting is easily obtainable. Did you adjust the eyepeice to your eye?

It is mandatory to adjust the diopter on a 1x scope if you want to shoot it with both eyes comfortably.

The one you picked up most likely had the diopter adjusted incorrectly, or for someone else's eyes.

I have zero issues with both eyes open on 1x with mine. I also notice it doesn't look like a true 1x, but has to be a 1.something. Still not complaining.

We run 1-4x Nightforce on our 16" REPRS and go outside to inside the tire house and run them like an M4 on steroids. A true 1x is like looking through a clear tube. Now 1.5x is another animal all together.

I recently went to a true 1-4 via Nightforce and I have seen no issues looking through the scope at 1x with both eye open!

I wish I had did this a long time ago.....

Cant speak for the vortex specifically but;
1) Set the Diopter
2) Looking through a scope while holding it in your hands looks different than a scope that is mounted to a rifle.

No issues at all with a Vortex PST 1-4 when set on 1x and diopter is properly adjusted and both eyes open. I shoot like this all the time.

Very fast at picking up the target expecially with the illumination on. For me as fast as my Aimpoint T1.
