Mounting a Vortex PST 6-24 on an AR. With so many mounts to pick from what are most guys using. I was thinking of an Alamofourstar, but after reading reviews about their customer service, I need to look at other options. Any suggestions?

Re: Vortex PST 6-24 mount?

The best way I have found is to use the 22.5 moa AR riser rail that Badger Ordnance makes and then use our medium 30mm precision matched rings. This has a few benefits.

1. The rings(seekins precision) are about as perfect fit of ring you can get for our scopes.
2. You get the 22.5moa canted rail to allow for more elevation.
3. It puts the scope at a height that most are very happy with.
4. If you decide you want to put the scope on a bolt gun also, you already have the correct rings.

There are also a couple other things ,but they are mostly just my opinions so I will just stay with the facts that I have mentioned

Re: Vortex PST 6-24 mount?

Jon's, AAD mount is also a good choice. I prefer his style of mount for higher power precision type optics over the side clamping rings/mounts out there. The reason why is because, the whole bottom half, which includes the bottom ring halves are machined together and will be identical dimensions. In the same way that Seekins does his/our rings, except Seekins obviously separates his and serializes them to keep them together.

I personally have never used one of Jon's AAD mounts, but knowing how.... "thorough :)" he is I would be willing to bet they are very nice. I will have to talk to him and see about getting one to check out.

I think you made a good choice.

Re: Vortex PST 6-24 mount?

I went with the aad mount for my Grendel build. It's a very nice mount. Now if my barrel would get here I could actually use it. The badger 22moa base works well too especially if you need a little extra taper.
