Nope, I would expect it if I had a turret run in or out one way or another... but this is with them set to the middle. When I crank the elevation out, then obviously I get a nasty blackout on the bottom, and I expect this.

The shaddow is exactly as you see it in the pictures, and this is with my eyeball directly behind right where I need to be. I'm using an AICS chassis with adjustable cheek, so I know my head is on it right. When I try to come off the scope one way or the other, I get the shadow effect that I would expect. However, there is nothing I can do, no way, no how to get a full eyebox. When centered up, always see that shadow in lower left.

As you can see by the pics... magnification doesn't matter either.

Have you contacted our CS about it? It sounds to me like there may be something wrong with the scope. All the ones that I've looked through don't have that problem with the FOV, unless I have my eye in the wrong spot behind the scope.

I know that some people have been mistakenly putting their eye too close to the scope, not realizing how much eye relief this scope has, and that also gives them shadowing, but in your case it sounds like you've ruled that out.

No trouble at all Sam. I have another razor on order, so my plan was to compare the two as soon as that one shows up. Then I'll know if its A)Something I'm doing. B)A problem with that one scope. C)A problem with all razors.

At this point I'm leaning heavily toward B.

Then I'll call Corey and discuss options.

Thanks very much for your diligence here. This may seem like a shit storm right now, but it is not unusual for a new, highly anticipated product. This is what happens when new products come to market, and those of us that have been around for something like this before... KNOW THAT. Contrary to what some of the unwashed may think or say in regard to this. There are plenty of us that see what you are doing, and are very grateful.

Off topic.......but NF was in the thread......Orkan is that Ill. on the NF really as crystal sharp as it appears in your photo? If so I have never seen high mag night vision look that sharp!

Yes, it is. The illumination on the nightforce stuff is the best I've ever seen. It actually looks better in person.

I got ahold of vortex and arranged an exchange for a new razor. The new one has correctly marked turret. It also does not have the same "shadowing" effect I was seeing on the other one. So whatever that was, it was a fluke. This one is quite clear and very pleasing to look through. Much better.

At this point, my only gripe is the illumination. The reticle has very un-even illumination. Its bright out toward the ends of the reticle, but dim toward the center, and the vertical is still darker than the horizontal.

The first razor was #62, and this one is #187.

In conclusion, now that I've had my hands on one that is put together right... this is one damn fine scope! Well worth the money. I don't see anything else for the price that carries this feature-set.

If you are in the market for a high power FFP mil/mil... I'd give this scope a look. Call scott @ liberty optics if you need one. Him and the staff at vortex have taken excellent care of me. This experience wasn't without the "early adopter blues" but they seem to have it sorted out. All in all I'm very pleased.
