It takes a SPARC to light a fire. The new, compact, daylight-bright SPARC (Speed Point Aiming for Rapid Combat) is packed with performance features and lends itself to a wide variety of firearm platforms—including AR15s, shotguns, and pistols. The modular three-piece base offers four separate mounting heights for user- and weapon-specific customization. Digital rear-facing and side controls for power on/off, dot brightness and night vision mode. Aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum body. Threaded to accept accessory ARD. Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof. Includes 2x doubler and two CR 2354 batteries. Get on target fast with the SPARC.

Fully Multi-Coated Lenses - Increase light transmission with multiple anti-reflective coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Construction Features:</span>
One-Piece Tube - Maximizes strength and waterproofness.
Adjustable Dot Intensity - Provides ten variable illumination settings to increase or decrease dot brightness according to viewing conditions.
Night Vision Mode - Sets the brightness to the lowest possible level—will work best with most night vision devices.
Unlimited Eye Relief - Non-critical eye relief provides maximum mounting options.
Parallax Free - Allows for rapid shooting with both eyes open, without concern for parallax shooting error. Parallax free beyond 50 yards; one-inch error closer than 50 yards.
2x Magnifier - Screw-in doubler provides extra magnification for longer distance shooting.
Battery Life - 6-hour auto-shutdown feature maximizes battery life. Typical battery life in normal mode of operation: 120 hours (maximum brightness), 3400 hours (minimum brightness). Typical battery life in night vision mode: 4200 hours (maximum brightness), 4600 hours (minimum brightness).
Risers and Shims - Combine in various ways to mount the SPARC at four different heights.
Waterproof - Optics are sealed with O-rings to prevent moisture, dust, and debris from getting inside the binocular.
Fogproof - Barrels are filled with nitrogen gas to inhibit internal fogging.
Operating Temperature - Rated from -40 degrees to +140 degrees Fahrenheit.

120hrs typical battery life is pretty disappointing

As Doug said, that's max brightness. If the optic is truly bright in full sun daylight then I'd guess that you won't run it at max all the time.

Anyway, let's say you left it on full bright for 10 hours a day because you were taking a class in sunny Florida. That's 12 days of battery life on max power, I'm not disappointed in that. I can afford a few more batteries given that this optic is $200 w/ an adjustable mount and a 2x magnifier....that would be $1,000 from EoTech or Aimpoint.

The auto shut off will help save battery life.

I understand. I guess we need to understand and experience how usable is the "minimum" setting. I know the "minimum" settings on my Aimpoints and Eotechs are useless in daytime. I like Vortex and cant wait for their PST line to come up. But there are plenty of similar optics in the $200 range. I have a Mueller MX1 with four adjustable dot sizes from 3 to 10MOA and 11 brightness settings. I bought it for $120. I mounted it on my Benelli M4 and took it to a tactical shotgun class and it survived 50rnds of slugs, 200rnds of 00Buck and 300rnds of #6 heavy steel. The dot is very crisp, and it has never lost zero. My buddy purchased the Burris XTS-135 for his shotgun and also has gone thru similar abuse with no issues. Those also have similar 200-200hr typical usage battery life. What would be good if these companies such as Vortex separated them from the competition by providing same but getting normal usage battery hours in the thousands at least. I know no one is going to touch the 50,000hrs on Aimpoints but i would be happy with 1000+ such as the new Eotechs. Just my humble opinion.

I am not sure if this was directed at my post, but i guess i will answer. The Mueller does not have the tinted glass. It looks very clear just like Aimpoint would be.

Re: Vortex SPARC Red Dot is now available

Thanks for the info. My question above was about the SPARC.

I have the Red Dot Only Strikefire, and previously owned the Red/Green Strikefire. The Red/Green Strikefire had a red/pink tint, and the Red Dot Only Strikefire has a blue tint. It's not noticeable when shooting with 2 eyes open, but I would prefer it to be clear.
