I am looking for a scope to sit on a 700p in .300 win mag. I am going to be shooting target/sillhoutte at ranges from 300-600 yards. Does anybody have any experience with this scope? I am looking at the 50mm one. It has plenty of magnification. I am just looking to hit targets, not get crazy small groups. Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated. If there is another scope that I should look at, let me know. Thanks.

Re: vortex viper dead hold bdc

I just got one about a week ago for my 6.5 Grendel but I got the 6.6-20x44. I have 4 Nightforce scopes and just didn't want to drop the coin on another. I've taken it out and shot with it twice now and am happy with it. What do you wanna know?

Re: vortex viper dead hold bdc

Mine has the mil dot reticle, not the BDC, but I have been pleased with my Viper so far. Scope holds zero and tracks well. Mine is the 6.5X20X50.

Good value for the money.

Re: vortex viper dead hold bdc

The Viper line from Vortex is an excellent quality scope. I have two of the 2x-7x BDC scopes and a 6x-24x FFP PST. I run one on my 3gun AR and the other on my M1A. The PST rides on my AR-10. The BDC reticle is good for holdovers and Kentucky windage when accuracy through volume of fire is acceptable.

Dependent on your budget and time table you might want to consider the PST line.

The EBR reticle choices are a bit more precise than the BDC for holdover work. Also the PST line has some other nice goodies(zero stop and externally adjustable windage and elevation). A third option would be the new line of Viper HS or hunter scopes which have an externally adjustable elevation knob so that you could either hold over or dial. I don't think you would be disappointed in a Vortex or their excellent customer service. Good luck on your purchase decision. Give Scott at Liberty Optics a call

cp3 you'll have to ignore Bunsen's post because he's talking about the PST not what we're talking about. The BDC works but not in the sense that it's a true BDC, a true BDC would be calibrated to your specific rifle and bullet choice. I'll look at the Vortex site and find you the values but you and I are only going to use the BDC dots for hold-over/windage adjustments at a specific power.

Here you go look under "specs"

Reread my post. The Viper BDC reticle is covered in the first part of it. I even included an image of the reticle in detail. The PST was a suggested upgrade if funds and time allowed. I own both models and shoot both in competitions monthly. I've put a fair number of rounds downrange with these scopes over the past year; have you? Work on your reading comprehension before you decide to comment on or attempt to dismiss other people's post.

Decaf man. I saw the PST reticle and thought that you had misunderstood which scope we were talking about, I didn't read your whole post (my bad) because the OP didn't ask about the PST. I didn't mean it as an insult.
