if its the same scope here don´t say preorder </div></div>

Optics Planet loves to take orders on things that they don't have. I placed two orders in the past that they couldn't fill, so I said never again.

I prefer companies that honestly list on their site if something is in stock. Even better is when they list the number of units in stock. </div></div>

I called them last week to see if they had an
ETA on the PST'sand they said they were expecting them in on June 9th and if I wanted one of the first shipment I should "order it now". The 9th sounded too good to be true, so I held off. I called back on the 9th (yesterday) to check the status, and was told they had no indication of when they would be available. WTF?
If I didn't have a 10% coupon for Optics Planet, I would definitely buy elsewhere.

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

I just ordered a PST 6-24 MIL/MIL from Liberty Optics. I was on the optics planet web site and noticed all the regular Viper's are listed as "Pre-Order now," and the PST's all said in stock. Sounds like whomever put the website together got things backwards.

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

I think they're really more of a "general" optics dealer.
The people (2) that I talked to on the phone had no clue what a Vortex Viper PST was. I had to give them the item # to look up before they realized it was a rifle scope.
I think they're just "order-takers".

I agree. I have had very good service from Optics Planet for other items I have ordered in the past. But if you want to work with somebody who actually knows the products and can answer some questions, go with one of the great supporting vendors on this site like SWFA, Liberty, CST, etc.

Can't wait for my 2 PST's to arrive.

I agree they should let you know if an item is not available yet or out of stock, but I always call to verify that they have the item in stock before I place my order anyway. From anywhere. Not just OP. I did speak to a couple people there about how they work the pre-orders, and they assured me that they do not charge your CC until they are ready to ship the item.

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

I ordered a Viper PST from Scott at Liberty Optics back in early April. I too had looked at Optics Planet and even back in April they were saying they would have them in in 2wks. Thats when I knew they just flat out have order takers that have no clue.

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

I finally got my hands on a 2.5-10 PST with the MOA retticle jus tlast week. It exceeded all expectations.... plain and simple. Outstanding glass, good illum. (not daylight visible at all though) and the turrets and clicks are as positive is not better than my nightforce. I currently have a 4-16 PST on order for a 300 win mag hunting rig I'm building. Great scopes, well worth the wait!

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

Agreed, I like mine a lot too. The glass isn't the best, but for the price, good enough. The reticle is very nice though. I agree that the illumination isn't that bright in daylight.

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

.. spoke to the Horse's mouth...Ken at Vortex.

expecting my 4-16x50 SFP in 4 - 6 weeks. I ordered it from my gun dealer last Monday.

Ken said the FFP scopes are about 2 months out. All existing orders have been filled from previous backorders and replacements.

So....might as well get in line.

My gut feeling...this time next year....prices will increase as the WORD gets out on this scope....simple economics...supply vs. demand.

If I were Vortex...it would be a wise business decision to raise prices next year.

Right now...no other scope can touch the PST features at this price point.

..so..order them now fellas....before the shooting really heats up in June/July....

Re: Vortex Viper PST review

Saw the entire lineup today at a local gunshow. Impressive. I did not
Purchase any though. Thought I'd check in here first.

Tha said, they were solidly constructed; I liked the turrets; the glass and reticles were clear.
