Im looking for a new scope. Ive been using a 10x42m super sniper. It works fine but sometimes id like more magnification and sometimes id like alittle less. Ive been looking at both of these scopes. The vortex has more magnification but if its not clear past 16x whats the point of paying more for blurry magnification. The millet looks about the same but I dont know a hole lot about either scopes. I mostly target shoot, paper at 100, steel to 500 sometimes turtles and pests 20-100 yards.

Re: Vortex viper vs Millet tactical

I have a Millett TRS2. It should be similar to you SS. The TRS 1 is varible and as far as I know is the only difference in the two. My Millett is a good scope especially for the money and I use it out to 1000 yards. The ranging is pretty accurate and the zero's repeatable. Having said all that it does not compare to the higher grade scopes as I looked through them side by side.If it's a money thing as it was for me you can't beat it. But reality is I'm going to upgrade so I'm spending the money now anyway.

Better turret knobs than the PST? I had an LRS-1 (3, actually) and I would argue strongly against the Millett having better knobs than a PST. Only reason I had 3 LRS-1s is because every time I indexed the windage knob the screw stripped and the knob turned and wiggled off axis like a little toy top about to fall over. 3 times in a row = junk if you ask me. Plus the larger profile, zero stop, easy to read index notch at the bottom of the turret all add up to a much better turret.

As far as 100 MOA internal adjustment, I'm not sure but even if it's less, a 20 MOA base will be enough to get you out there. People have clocked their turrets at different max adjustments of +/- 3 or 4 minutes.

At distance, I would be more concerned with the accuracy of the reticle, tracking, etc than I would internal adjustment. Infinite adjustment - poor tracking and inaccurate reticle = miss. Holdover with an accurate reticle = hit. Just some food for thought.

I have a TRS2 and the glass is very clear. Only down side in my opinion is such a small field of view but it's a very solid scope.

No not better than the PST, but better than the basic vortex, i dont like turret caps, i would lose them so fast.

Good point tho
