There are a lot of current posts that are comparing/contrasting the Razor 1-6 to the NX8 1-8. Has anyone spent time behind the VX-6 HD Multigun? If so and you have experience with the Razor and/or NX8 would you please share your thoughts? If you don’t have experience with the Vortex and NF please share your thought on the VX-6.

I am asking because the VX-6 is super lightweight.

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve spent time behind the Leupold, and I own the Razor 1-6. The Leupold seems like a nice scope. I haven’t run it hard by any means. Glass is always a subjective thing, but I remember it being good. Very clean. The one I was using had a green dot. Idk if that’s on all of them, or is an option, I’m not a Leupold “guy”. I did like it though. Studies have shown that the human eye picks up green faster than other colors, and it seemed fast enough with the Leupold. As far as the turrets, I liked them quite a bit. The pinch to turn turrets are a great idea for what the scope is designed for (3 Gun/gaming). All in all, a solid enough scope.

Now, the Razor 1-6: this scope is the benchmark LPV to me. The glass is insane clear. The fov is wonderful. The scope seems to disappear when you’re looking through it. The scope is bright and perfect from edge to edge. There is zero “fishbowl” effect. I seriously have run drill upon drill with my Razor on 1 power against my Aimpoint. I am no slower with my Razor. My Aimpoint doesn’t let me turn the dial and engage steel at 625 though. The scope is a little heavy, I admit. That said, they are bombproof, and mine has been through several seasons of 3 Gun, and hasn’t been any the worse for wear. If Vortex came out with the Razor 1-8, they might well have the ultimate LPV on the market. With the new NF 1-8’s out, I’m BETTING a 1-8 is in the works.

Leupold VX6 vs the Razor 1-6......still the Razor for me. It does everything well, and is crystal clear. No distortion, no fishbowl. I have several LPV ‘s, but I always reach for the Vortex.

I bought the Leupold and the clarity is fantastic. My biggest complaint is that it is NOT daylight visible. If you need the daylight visibility for run and gun, I would go Vortex Razor

Truth be told I wasn't a big fan of the RZR 1-6. The two that I had weren't as "flat" as I'd expected. Looking through the glass, there was a very noticeable distortion around the outer edges. This was my first leap into quality optics and honestly it left me wanting. And After some experimenting with the trijicon 1-8, which I wasn't real impressed with either as far as cosmetically, I went back to the Rzr due to its track record of being bomb proof.

Shortly after that, I ended up picking up the VX6HD 1-6 multigun for my wife due to its weight and fell in love with it. IMO the glass is much better than the RZR; it it has a flatter picture, bigger eye box and much more forgiving eye relief. Although the Illumination is far less than spectacular, the weight and glass definitely outweigh the cons. I took it into my local shop and they all had to get a peek through it and all seemed pretty impressed with it.

I have since sold the RZR and while looking for a deal on another VX6HD I pretty much stole a MK6 1-6 and have been wowed! I'd take either Leupold over the RZR any day.

The gist of it all is I can't say enough nice things about the VX6HD 1-6. The only down side is the Illumination and the Illumination buttom. With $200, Leupold said they could convert the button over to a dial. Making the $1300 price tag turn into a $1500 price tag. If you can find one on sale you won't regret it.

I haven’t been behind a 1-6x Razor so I can’t compare (I won’t even look at scopes that heavy for my 3gun rifle). I do know people love them though.

I have seen the Leupold in store only at cabelas and while that’s obviously not enough experience to give a good review I will say that the glass clarity and generous eyebox with almost no fishbowling were GREAT. Can’t tell about the illume given that it was indoors, but that’s disappointing to hear. I’ll also hedge my response with the caveat that Leupold VX5HD and VX6HD glass has always really agreed with my eyes for some reason.

I can’t justify spending 3x what I did on my Steiner P4x and I’d miss the daylight bright illume, but if I were a more serious competitor and/or money weren’t as much of a concern, I’d probably have bought it.

    ? ? ?
Do you get the Leupold VX-6 HD 1-6 scope ?

I May be get one :)

    Thanks
Not yet. I started leaning toward the Kahles K16i and then the Meopta Optika6 1-6 was released. Now I am waiting for people to get their hands on the Optika6. AND NOW SHOT is around the corner and I hope that Vortex releases a lighter 1-6x.

If you do but the VX6HD please post your thoughts.

I had the VX6hd multi gun for a few months. Super clean and crisp glass. Eyebox wasnt finicky at all and yes the optic was super light. The only down sides for me personally were that it wasnt daylight bright and the reticle isnt super usable from rifle to rifle. While yes you can figure out what your holds are on different rifles the way I switch scopes it just became a pain in the ass. I traded straight up for an accupower 1-8. While the glass on the leupold is very slightly and I mean very very slightly cleaner at max mag I was willing to make the trade off for a mil reticle, daylight bright illumination, and 2 extra power at the cost of weight essentially. Hope this helps a bit
