Hi guys
I have 8 lbs of W760, I was going to use it to reload .375 H&H mag but things have changed. I shoot and reload .308, 7.62x54r and .338LM. Can I use it in one of these calibers and what would be the start load?
I shoot my .308 up to 1200 yards, the 7.62x54r up to 1000 yards and the .338 up to 2000 yards, respectively using Varget, Accurate 4350 and H1000.
I never used W760, heard and read different things, such as poor velocity with the .308; someone says he had good results with a 30-06 (similar to 7.62x54r), also that this powder likes magnum primers but that's about it.
Couldn't find much on this powder with the .338LM.
What do you think? .308, 7.62x54r, .338lm?

I appreciate all comments.

Thanks and good shooting.

Hodgdon doesn't list it in their data above 185 grain bullets in 338 L, which seems to confirm my suspicion that is it a little fast for heavy bullets in the 338 L.

Definitely a bit too fast for the 338LM, as CMH has suggested. Should be plenty easy to come up with good loads for the 308 and 7.62x54R, and well suited to both. I would recommend against using this powder for 308 loads in an M1A, but no problem at all in a bolt gun.

Thanks guys
I was hoping for the best and was ready for the worst. As I mentioned in OP, could not find too much info on that powder with the mentioned calibers, especially for .338LM. As my shooting is geared toward LR and accuracy, it sounds like I would be better off using something else, even though ksthomas mentioned possible good loads for .308 and 7.62x54r and, as he is associated with Lapua, I value his opinion. I read good posts from him, good knowledge and cool stories.
All my rifles in the mentioned calibers are bolt actions
W760 is a good powder with .375 H&H magnum and that 8 lbs container is brand spanking new, so I may try to trade it in for powders more adequate in my daily shooters.
Good shooting to all.
