Anyone have any recommendations for a course located in Southeast Texas? I am willing to travel to West Louisiana or Houston. Most of the courses I am seeing are in San Antonio or DFW.

There has been a precision rifle match in Navasota in the past. Is that what you're looking for? If you are looking for some long-range type training, I think American Shooting Center on Westheimer Parkway in Houston has training. Check their website. I thought Beaumont had some 600 yard matches, or highpower, but I'm not certain. I know there is f-class shooting near Baton Rouge. Search www.paloaltogunclub.com.

I'll second the Rifles Only suggestion. I took the Rifles Only Precision I & II Combo Course last year and it was great. Jacob knows his stuff and does a super job with the class. The facility is first rate as well. We shot out to 1000 yards and I filled up a small notebook with precision rifle fundamentals, notes and data. I highly recommend Jacob and Rifles Only.

Rifles only is probably your best option for civilian classes.

Word of caution about American Shooting Center in Houston. While I have never taken a class there I know numerous people that have shot there, living in Houston almost all of my life. They had a reputation of having ROs who think they are gods gift to the shooting community and are complete assholes. There are a couple instances that stand out where someone called the RO on the bullshit they were spitting and they had nothing to say.

FWIW I have never shot there so I can lend no first hand experience but the reports I have gotten over the years has been mostly negative.

If there are other options available I'd look elsewhere first IMO

Another option is CSAT in Nacogdoches. Paul offers civilian classes that would be a great learning experience from someone who has been there. He offers a "long range hunter" class that would be worth looking into
