    I was just thinking * that "I need this", not important what it was, when a following thought hit me..."No you dont need it, you want it.".

    So I pondered it and,

    When you stop to think about, all we really need to live is air, food, water, and a reasonably tolerant climate. Pretty much everything else is something we want., things we have been indoctrinated to believe we 'need'. But that, as the Buddah says, is 'desire' and gets us into trouble. Or a s Christ might have put it, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will be added." so we shouldnt really 'want' but trust that our 'needs' will be met. Thats not to say we shouldnt do our assigned work, but just a thought to ponder.

    If all we ever get is the things we need to keep on breathing, we might as well not even be human. It's also arguable that we would not be where we are as a species, for good and for bad, if all we ever strove for was the physical necessities.

    As a somewhat tangential thought, I observe that the difference between wants and needs can blur significantly. Especially when you consider that emotional needs are pretty damn important, given the depth of thought and the level of awareness that humans can achieve.

    My Dad used to have this kind of thinking as did my FIL where they used to bitch at younger folks for not being able to save money but *Oh Boy* they had money for fancy laptops, fabulous phone, decent car and high speed internet. Then I reminded them that these things in the 21st Century are not optional if one wants a decent job. The World has changed *a lot* in the last 10 years in that without decent reliable transportation, a phone, internet access etc. You are pretty much limited to starvation wage jobs.

    Course back in The Day when my FIL was a young Farmer, anyone could get room and board for the night by stopping at the farm and chopping wood...it was a common rule that travelers could always chop wood for a meal and sleep in the barn. Those days are long gone.

    I have discussions with my daughers about needs and wants, especially when it comes to budgeting for life when they go out on their own and get an apartment, and start their own lives. Needs vs wants really trickles down a long way in decision making, and can simplify decision making adequately as long as the person making the decision makes it in the most mature, responsible way.

    Exactly...when my FIL was a Pup it was not at all uncommon for a person to have fallen upon hard times, packed their belongings in a bag, and began walking to somewhere they hoped would pan out for a better Life. Back then, when one encountered these folks, they were looked on as good people that had hard luck but were probably decent folks and needed a meal and a bed for the night in exchange for weeding the garden, chopping wood, or a million other small tasks that need to be done.

    21st Century we see a guy who needs a meal and a bed for the night and we assume his is a criminal in process, or a mass murderer/drug addict, or a fuck head looking for a handout. We live in a completely different world now. I often am glad my Dad and FIL have passed and cannot see what we have become. It would only bring them grief and anxiety. It's not 1948/58/68/78/88/98/or even 2008 and it never will be again and the rules have been turned upside down.

    "Stranger Danger!" "Say No! And Go, and Tell!"

    For me it's sad to see a World where everyone is suspicious of a guy not driving a $50K+ truck and "dressed appropriately" with $400 cash in his wallet and and an address in a gated community with a $500K+ home. Who is far more likely to fuck you than the guy who needs a meal and a bed. In my Experience.

    The first 3,000 years of civilization are basically people living with what they needed and it fucking sucked, it was a marginal existence. People usually died by 50 years old or so and they died broken, smelly and having never had decent pussy or a good steak. They were exploited by the powerful, elite and well connected.

    Yeah, we can live on shit, a one room house with four people in each bed, someone slaving away to keep a fire in the hearth and a warm bowl of gruel on the table, walk outside to shit in a hole in the ground and meat or eggs a couple of times a month. Candles for light and nothing to read because you are a fucking illiterate.

    Thankfully we live in a modern world. People live until their mid-80's with no difficulty and live well. Pussy is washed and trimmed and tits are firm in the modern world. People have all their teeth and do not smell like piss and sweat. Food is good and meat is plentiful. Our homes have heat in the winter and cooling in the summer and very few rodents.

    What do I need? I have it for the most part. A selection of cars and trucks, a truck camper for the weekends or vacations. A nice home with a mowed yard and a patio with a nice grill. A freezer full of meat and a TV with 300 channels of bullshit to watch. I have a snow blower to move snow and a robot lawn mower to keep the yard looking nice. I have a bathroom on every floor and can walk 20 feet to shit in air conditioned comfort. That turd disappears with the flick of a handle and I do not have to smell it rotting in the back yard for the next three months.

    Unlike most Democrat fuckwads, I have a skill and a trade as well as a couple of college degrees. My trade pays an easy 100% more than 98% of the bullshit jobs I could have gotten with a college degree. I have 30 years experience in my field of endeavor and do not work cheap, except for friends.

    So when my wife's two leftist asshole sons and their woke white asshole wives look down on me, I could fucking care less. When they are appalled that I do not donate 60% of my income to their leftist bullshit causes, I could fucking care less. They live like assholes, renting shitty houses and working shitty paying asshole jobs so they can show support for the poor and ignorant and fuck them. They refuse nice toys for their asshole kids and they make the little fuckers read shitty books like, "A is for activist" or "The life of Karl Marx". For every toy they receive, they force their kids to donate one toy to the scumbag bank or community center.

    My needs are few. My wants are paid for by the sweat of my brow. If you want more than the league minimum, get a fucking job, save some money and buy it yourself. I have no interest in hearing how I should work hard to live an austere life while every piece of shit in the ghetto or trailer park lives as well as I do with zero fucking effort.

    Wanna see something disgusting? Go to a neonatal care unit at a hospital sometime. Every hard working, typically white American family that has a preemie baby is sitting in the waiting room, praying their new child lives and wondering how the fuck they will cover the million dollar a month hospital bill? They have medical insurance and their co-pay is going to be from $7,500 dollars up to 20% depending on how shitty their insurance is. No matter what, between the hotel bills, co-pays and uncovered expenses they are going to be in debt and they will do it and work it off later.

    Now, 2/3rd of the kids in there are some form of welfare trash. Their "family" is sitting in the waiting room sipping beers in paper bags and eating take out, laughing and yukking it up. They are all on Medicaid or some shit government program and not one of them gives a shit about the cost. They are asking the nurses for free meals and bottled water, they are shitting like hogs in the restrooms and have their fucking feet on the furniture. They all have $2,000 cellphones and are all posting and tweeting to their scumbag friends. Or they dropped the kid and walked away, they could fucking care less. The government pays the costs, finds a foster family to raise and care for the kid and then in four or five years when the decent family tries to adopt it, the assholes want it back. Why? Because it is worth good money in welfare.

    What I NEED is for America to reduce all welfare benefits for anyone not missing a limb and under 60 years of age by 50% so they will get fucking jobs. What I WANT is to get from the car to the curb without some cunt asking for money or a handout.

    I'm only mildly bitter. My problem is that as I near retirement I see my IRA and investments shrinking and hear nothing from the leftist shitbags who run this country, except Fuck you working man. They are hellbent on giving it all to foreign scum, illegal invaders and welfare dregs. In the middle of the greatest housing market collapse in decades my damned home value went up 24%. We have 9% inflation and I have a savings account making .000009% a year and a CD making .000015%. If I took $5,000 and put it in the couch it would make more money than it would in the damned bank.

    I listened to some homeless bitch whining in her interview on the news about the quality of her FREE housing. She wanted higher end appliances and better furniture in her god damned 2 bedroom apartment that was 100% rent, utility, cable and phone FREE. She "expected more" to compel her to stop living outdoors. I'd just as soon watch her die under a bridge than pay her $75,000 a year to sit in a fucking free apartment and get high.
