Rifle Scopes Warne Maxima vs Vortex Pro Series rings?

Just put together a new rifle and am looking for some budget rings. Right now the rifle has UTG Pro rings my buddy gave me, but they are too tall.

Rifle is a 700 5r Gen 2 in 6.5cm....20moa EGW hunter rail....scope is Vortex HS LR 4-16x44.

Rings im looking at are the Vortex Pro series and the Warne Maxima...both in low, and both cheap.


Any opinions on those two, or another choice in similar price range?

The Warne maxima rings are vertically split and can cause problems on scopes with thinner tube wall thickness.

On my USO ST10, the Warne maxima rings cause no trouble whatsoever.

But, I've mounted some Vortex, Bushnell and an IOR scopes in them and had the parallax knob bind.

The lower screw in the Warne Maxima rings serve to both tighten the cap to the scope tube, and clamp the rings to the base. They tend to result in too much force squeezing the bottom of the tube.

Get the vortex rings.

Those look fine. I doubt you'll have any trouble.

I havn't used either of the sets you have in mind, so I have no first hand info.

I have BAT rings, and Steiner H rings, both of which are excellent quality.

I actually just got the Warne Maxima horizontal split rings. They are actually very nice. Before I was running Badger rings but sold the rings with the scope and these fit just as nice, no lapping needed and very well machined. I mean I still love badger rings and will probably get another set, but for the price I really like these.

I have a couple sets of the Vortex Pro rings and they are actually pretty nice for a $60 set of rings. I put them on a PST Gen II and they hold well. They seem to be very well made and machined well. Says they are made in the USA also which some like. They have the torque specs on them to help the end user.

Those Warne look better than the old vertical split rings. Warne makes a good product too. I have used a few sets of their AR mounts over the years. Can't really go wrong with either.
