Hi Frank and/or other moderators. A thread I started RE: custom Atlas (and later Harris) bipod feet seems to have disappeared. I assume it was deleted. There was some contorversy in the thread, but I've seen worse here many times over (unless something happened today I didn't see), and the controversy seemed to be working itself out without any real nastiness. Anyhow, I am wondering if the post was in fact deleted, was some rule broken?

    Re: Was my thread deleted?

There were several alerts on the thread, the problems were many.

I deleted the group buy but not the original thread.

The issue with patent infringement on the Harris feet was one issue.

A company openly advertising in the thread was another issue.

A move to create a group buy announcement in the same thread, of which several members found issue after issue within that thread and none had anything to do with the tone.

Good intentions aside, looking to fill a void is fine, staying within the rules is what matters.

Thanks for the explanation, Frank. I believe that Jd and Scott have (or are) working ot the patent problem. It looks like that was a simple lack of knowledge that a patent existed.

As Kasey and Scott have both stated they have no issue with the production of the Atlas feet, would a group buy for those be an issue for you? I only ask because there has been a fair amount of interest from members here for them.

I tried to search for rules RE: group buys, and didn't find them. Perhaps I am not looking in the correct places. I certainly don't want to be on the wrong side of the rules.

Thanks again for your response, it mus tbe a full time job trying to keep this site sane.

You might be right. It wasn't really my intention to get involved with facilitating sales of these products, I was originally just trying to let people know that I found a solution to a problem I had that I thought others might also be having. After folks contacted me about getting them I obliged. I am not the manufacturer of these. If my helping to put folks in contact with the guy who is was an issue - then that's my bad.
