What are your guy's thoughts on running this 50bmg surplus powder in a 338 norma? I found some, and it's rather inexpensive. Yes. I understand it's better to run commercial powders, but I only have 2 pounds of retumbo left. I cant find anymore magnum type powders other than BMG stuff. Also have the choice of WC857, WC860, and WC867.
Thanks.

Wideners has Norma 217 powder in stock. Norma manual has it listed as a powder choice. I picked up 6 lbs but have not tried it yet.... In the same boat you are in!

The increasing numbers means slower burn rate. I've only used 867 and 872. I'd get the 867 myself. But wouldn't hesitate to try the 857 or 860 if I thought a titch faster would be beneficial for the application. I know I'd use a chrono and start any of them at 81.0g in the Norma with a 250g bullet and work up.

Interesting... I just got 48lbs of 867 in tpday for my 50bmg. Its more powder than ill need for a LONG time. A With that said, im wondering as well for my 338 Lapua Magnum. I use H1000 for those but if I an make really good ammo with a cheaper costing powder, od switch in a heartbeat. Any thoughts there?

Tried H-870 (T870) in the Norma Mag with the 250 Accubond. Waaaay too slow burning.

WC-872 will be too slow as well. Had good luck with Ramshot Magnum burn rate powders.

I'd be interested to see what RL-33 would do...
