I served in our Army from the height of the Cold War days until 2000 through thick and thin, I watched some of my friends die and attended their funerals and I and my wife helped their families get through it, I am a member of Gun Owners of America, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, the American Suppressor Association, and about another half dozen or so gun rights organizations, I support the Convention of States, Judicial Watch, ACLJ, Family Research Council, American Family Association, and I vote every election, I also attend our local Caucus and not just in federal elections, I hold our Constitution and our Rights dearest to me right after my relationship with God and my wife, and I know from very personal experience that freedom isn't free - it was paid for dearly. What are you doing to defend our Constitution and Rights, other than just with a few bills here and there?

This might sound harsh, but curse is a harsh word in this regard too. Reality is we are under attack by those who would first destroy our Constitution, and then turn our country into just another dictatorial communist slave plantation and the sooner all come to realize that it is not just a local but a global effort against our country the sooner maybe they can get to the conclusion that sitting out elections, or voting for the other side cannot even be an option anymore. A total gun grab a la Nazi Germany, or Soviet Union is their number one priority and for them "the ends justify the means" whatever they consider opportune.

I don't know how it happened, but somehow I managed to quote the wrong post. My remarks were to be directed at Strykervet, and his idea that there is nothing worth saving of America. I disagree with that idea, yet even so my remarks were intended more tongue in cheek than actually nasty. Apparently I failed in my ability to deliver a lighthearted humorous rebuke as well as my ability to quote the person I was responding to.

You are of course correct that directing my post at you was incorrect and a mistake on my part. You also have no need to justify anything to me. Without you needing to say a word I was 100% in the wrong with my post. Please accept my apology.

If the swiss people vote against firearms, it is a bit far fetched to blame it on the EU. Many national goverments be it Germany, Austria, Switzerland or France, tried to go way further with their initial gun law reform than the EU mandated.
Here in Austria, the situation will become even a bit better after some pushback by gunowners. Ok, we have to register high capacity mags but we get to keep them, we get access to more semi automatic weapons and suppressors were legalized for hunters. No, it was not "women against guns" (a puppet PR outlet counting one and a half would-be politicians for hire, with zero political influence). It was not even about gun rights.

It was about big money.

The campaign for the obnoxious EU Directive was financed by big mondialist capital. they have spent insane amounts of money in it, because the next thing on the table (happening now) is the "framework agreement" with the EU, and transnationals absolutely needed to keep this card in the game, and show our "european partners" that they can bend Swiss Democracy to their wallet. They bought all major national news outlets – entire journalist teams. They bought politicians – entire parties. In the months preceding the vote, every day there was an apocalyptic article or two in the national press, or a TV show in prime time – "without Schengen we all gonna die, without Schengen it gonna be Somali". The ratio of budgets for/against the Directive (and you can trust someone directly involved in fundraising with gun clubs and armourer shops) was like 20:1.

Gun owners in Switzerland were just extremely unlucky with the calendar.

We lost a real freedom out of fear of hypothetical "difficulties".

I am seriously considering requesting political asylum in Ticino.
