Alright guys I'm looking for a light I can put on my rem. 700 ltr, I've been looking at streamlights but not sure if or how to mount it. I have looked at there weapons lights or even thought about a small tactical flashlight mount. Finding the best way to mount it seems to be my biggest problem, any advice?

Re: Weapons light

I would mount my Surefire M4 on my 700 in a heartbeat for coyotes and pigs at night. I have it on my AR and shot a coyote in the dark at 100 yards plus.

Cool points are not my concern and the amount of use does not warrant the expense of proper NV.

Re: Weapons light

First off had to sell my ar to pay doctor bills when my son was born, and I'm using my ltr hog, and predator hunting and it a pain in the ass to carry and work a light at the same time, I want another ar just not in the budget for now, just makin due with the ltr for multipurpose right now

Re: Weapons light

tex700ltr,

If you got a Badger base of some sort or picatinny rail, you can mount a Badger SLAM on your rail and carry a light. You can even mount a high lumen Surefire tactical light on the side. It will definetely work for what you want for predator hunting or night shooting.

I got the Badger SLAM and I can mount my Surefire right to it and go shoot coyotes on my dad's farm.

Nope but they do make a version for driving. This one is made to attach to the weapon. I modified the mount and machined an adapter plate to use a Larue mount. Many a yote fell to this light.

Re: Weapons light

Uh, yeah, there are those of us who hunt coyotes and hogs after dark, and lights are handy for that...long after the paper is finished being punched!

Surgeon Rail and a Streamlight SuperTac in a Larue offset mount works pretty well on my LTR.

No it's not. As long as you don't have an IR illuminator around the NV unit on the weapon is perfectly legal, and even then it's questionable since the law specifically covers "IR scopes" only.

The "sniper scope" law in Kalifornia was written in the 1950's to cover an IR only scope that was used in the Korean war, modern day NV units didn't even exist then.

The legislators knew this and in 1995 tried to amend the law to cover modern day NV units. It didn't pass.
