Came across a Weaver Kaspa 3-12 side focus 30mm Ill. scope for sale. I new that this was a new offering that Weaver has come out with but never saw any pictures of 1 until today. I have used Weaver in the past and have never had any problems with them. For the money they have always served me well and had descent glass in them. The scopes have always been used on varmint rifles so i can,t say how well they would hold up to some rugged type matches where they would more than likely get banged around some. For around 200.00 for this scope above i am just thinking how the hell can you build a scope with all these features and have usable glass? Anyone here have 1 of these that they might be using or have had the chance to just get behind it and check it out? I am by no means a cheap skate but holy cow, for the money they could serve their purpose well on some projects.

    Re: Weaver Kaspa anyone

This is my first post on the hide but have been reading a lot to get up to speed on how things work around here and have been pretty impressed so far.

I have some first hand experience with Weaver's Kaspa scopes. I have ran a red dot on my AR since I have had it (probably 3 years/2000 rounds). I have more of a hunting background but in the last few years have moved closer toward the "tactical scene" mainly because it can be fun year round and doesn't require a season.

On to the Kaspa, I replaced my red dot with the Weaver Kaspa 1.5-7 power and will never go back to the red dot system unless I build a SBR for up close and personal work.

I have about 1000 rounds through the rife with the Kaspa on it and it has performed well over my expectations. I really bought it as a cheap way to see if I would like a magnified scope better than the red dot and planned on replacing it with a higher end scope if I liked it. I don't plan on replacing it now because of how well it has held up through quite a bit of abuse. The glass is pretty good not exceptional but we are talking about a $200 scope. The only few things that bug me a little is that the battery life is fairly short for the illumination but it is not really needed in 90% of the shooting that I do. And also they claim that the turrets are resettable to Zero but since this is a lower end scope I could only get it to reset -.5 MOA or +.5 MOA. I contacted Weaver and they said that it was normal. Not a big deal to me, I just set it to -.5 MOA and use that as my zero, your millage may vary.
