Tooling mark on the rifling. Probably wont make too much sufferance on a service pistol. It could adversely affect accuracy on a match gun. Doesn't appear to be dangerous. I'd return it if that's an option just for piece of mind.

I actually had something similar on my Dan Wesson .357 I bought many years ago. Shot the heck out of it and that gun now shoots very accurately, about 3,000 rounds later. Actually, it took about 1000 rounds before it settled down.

Certainly nowadays, I'd look into getting a replacement barrel from the manufacturer if it's a new pistol.

1, how does it shoot? I's not a precision target pistol so take the groups for what they are...combat piece. So long as it shoots reasonably well, I wouldn't worry about it.

what cal what model?

Looks like that one slipped through the watchful eyes of the QC monkeys at the factory inspection station. ;)

Seriously, if it is a new pistol or otherwise one that is from a company known for their CS, I'd look into a replacement barrel. They should take care of you as it appears pretty obvious from the couple quick pics that it isn't something that has been caused by the end user/consumer. That said...I doubt that you'll see too much in the way of fall-off of accuracy, reliability, etc., but you've paid good money for something that isn't what you expected so its likely worth your time in contacting the mfg re: a repair/replacement.

It's a FNP45 tactical

My experience dealing with FN USA's CS has been mixed (shotgun issue...not a pistol), but at the end of the day, I can't imagine that they wouldn't be willing to work with you on a solution to the issue whether its a fix or a replacement barrel. They don't need people having out-of-the-box problems with their top-end pistols, especially those that they have actively marketed to professional mil/leo around the world as "the best" of their best products. ;)

I have a FNX.45 and it has the same bump inside my barrel but its in a groove not on a land like yours. Looks like when they stamped the big "P" (proof?) under the barrel it was stamped with such force it actually makes a bump in the inside of the barrel. Mine shoots ok but overall isn't a impressive pistol. Sloppy/cheap molding in the body of the frame. Barrel seems kinda crude. Slide release is too tiny and hard to work. Safety lever is too big and too easy to work but difficult to reach when holding it in a shooting grip. The black color wears off super fast and easy on the slide release and the takedown lever. Crown on my muzzle seems to be off center somewhat. Lots of issues. One the pluse side it has functioned ok and accuracy is acceptable but nowhere near my Walter PPQ M2 9mm. I marvel at the price they are getting for the FNX tactical. Free country, more power to 'em I guess. <shrug>
