That looks like the area that the set screws that clamp the outer turret make contact with so those marks would be normal.

Yeah, i thougt that at first too, but it was the first time i hade the outer turret off, and they seem a bit many to be from the factory tests/quality checks? Also - i think they are kind of deep for it to be clamp screws that caused that? Anyways - i got a hold of Vortex, the guy who picked up the phone checked a scope in their showroom, and that one got the same marks, randomly placed. So its all good i think :)

That's 100% from the grub screws biting into the brass.

Also, i tried to figure out how the outer/inner turret worked. I tried to turn the brass knob with the outer turret removed, but i couldent turn it. Shouldent i be able to make clicks on the turret, by turning the brass knob with the outer turret removed, if its only the 3 screws that makes contact to the inner turret?

I bet if you grab it with some side cutters you'll be able to turn it.
I understand wanting to know how things work, but rest assured, that is what you're turning with the turret. No need to grab it with side cutters.

No, it was brand new and sealed.

Also, i think that the mark would be a more linear long scratch, if someone did what you are describing? Theese seems like individual dimbles, not a pointy screw that was dragged along the surface that i would expect to see of someone did like you described?

Lol thanks man :p No need for side cutters, i was just wondering if i was missing something when i couldent turn the brass knob :)

It's 100% normal. It's why the groove is cut in it, and why it's made out of soft brass. So the screws bite into it.

Well, you do sound convincing i must say ;) Do you also have a PST gen2? i would really like to see a picture for peace of mind if you have one, cause even if its normal with marks, i still think they seem kinda deep. im wondering if some newbie at the factory have overtighten the screws since the marks are so deep. I do however believe you when you say marks are normal, you sound like you know alot more than me when it comes to things like that - so thanks for confirming that for me, i really appriciate it ;)

Here’s a PMII. The internal turret is aluminum and the grub screws are machined flat. Still marks.

Here a Super Sniper. Brass internal. Standard grub screw. Lots of marks.
Get over it!

DUDE! You're screwing steel into BRASS! You can scratch brass with your fingernail.

Hehe, okey - you convinced me ;-) Thanks alot man, i can clearly see with the pictures you provided that everythings normal with my scope. I want to thank you for your patience, and that you took the time and took pictures and all. You gave me peace of mind, and for that i am very thankful :)
