Bad idea to keep any ammo or powder in a safe. If there is a fire it will turn that safe into a nice bomb because it will have no way to vent the pressure</div></div>
Not entirely true. My uncle had a stockpile of ammo in a safe in his cabin. It was literally stacked to the top with ammo boxes filled with .223, .308, .300WM, and .45ACP. Long story short, the cabin burned down in a forest fire, so no fire department on site at all. Every last round went off. The safe was bulged out and distorted enough that the door had to be cut and pried open, but no explosion.
Anyways... modern ammo is almost completely waterproof. You'll be fine. </div></div>
I know I've posted this before, but I work with Paul:
Firefighter loses eye from exploding ammo
The ammo was in spam cans and boxes, not quite a safe. But it did cause us to rethink our attack policies.
