Anyone have a silencerco Spectre II? Any good?
The 1st 22RF suppressor I bought was a SWR Spectre II; only reason I got interested in a RF can was because I'd just built myself a really nice trainer on a Stiller 2500XR action, Krieger sendero .22RF blank, Manners T4A Elite Tactical, Jewell HVR, and Athlon Cronus 4.5-29X56 scope. I've had nothing but good experiences with the Spectre II, on that Stiller and later on a couple of CMP 40X/XBs that jelrod converted into repeaters, and that I barreled with Benchmark & Lilja bbls.
When I bought a VGW V-22 action and started in on building it for myself, I decided to get a TBAC 22TD, if for no other reason than to be able to have a suppressor on more than one of my comp rifles at a time. Over the span of several years, I've found that both the Spectre II & 22TD are very quiet, with the Spectre II having a slightly noticeable 1st round pop when compared side-by-side with the 22TD. I had no idea that this was the case until one evening while shooting down an old concrete feed alley in our old abandoned feedlot - it's lined on both sides with concrete bunks, and they really reflect any sound back to the shooter, especially when shooting prone. So, I'd guess that, when fired out in the open, it's not very noticeable, if it's even possible to detect it.
The accuracy out of these pretty good rifles has been excellent with both cans - right up to the point where the 22TD rolled off my bench top onto the concrete alley surface, a drop of about 3'. Since then, it's been causing groups to open up, and it's doing it to roughly the same extent on all three of my V-22s. I can't see any damage, so I took it apart and cleaned it down to bare metal, then tested it again, and got the same results. Called to get a RMA, sent it in, and they've looked it over, and are going to test on one of their rifles to see what they find. If you look at the attached target photo, you can see how much difference there is with SK Rifle Match (known good lot) with & w/o the can on the bottom crosshair target. First three shots were fired at 50yds with the 22TD attached to a new Krieger #4 sporter bbl I'd just done for a V-22. I removed the can and fired the last 7rds out of the magazine, as noted beside that crosshair. The other three types of ammo were fired w/o the suppressor attached, but I'd seen the same sort of dispersion with all three types of ammo out of the other two V-22s I own. Odd - hope the guys at TBAC can figure it out.
