Loading for a M1A, so IMR4895/H4895 is the go to powder...but what is close to this of other makes and companies. I like Alliants RL-15 for most things, but need to know what else to run with incase I can't get the Hodgen stuff.

Why? The US Military made 4895 the match powder for years. Why break a winning streak? Just to be different? The powder was made to specifications for that rifle. Don't bend a rod or ruin a rifle just to be different. JMHO

RL15 works fine in the M1A. Its burn rate is similar to IMR 4064, which had been a go to powder for the heavier bullets (ie 180-190s) in the M1 and M1A for many decades when those guns were used in HP shooting. My M1A NM shoots the 168/175s better with RL15 than with 4895. Just can't hot rod the loads for the M1/M1A. They shoot best in the middle of the road load and it won't beat up the oprod and bedding. BTW RL15, and possibly, IMR 4064 hve been the powder in the recent M118LR.

If you want other suggestions AA2460, AA2520, Win748 are less-well-known but still work great. So while the more popular ones will probably be sold out I beet you'll get your hands on one of those. 2460 is a little faster than h4895 while 2520/748 are right there with 4895.

Also, Accurate 2495 claims to be accurate's equivalent to 4895. It's also one of the few rifle powders Powder Valley had in stock when I put in my order the other day.
