What ammo do military snipers shoot?

Do military snipers shoot the same ammo as everyone else? Or is there ammo specially loaded for them? It seems they would have to shoot the same because when they get resupplied with their unit it seems there would be mass confusion getting the correct ammo to the snipers vs the rest of the unit.
Of course I am talking troops that shoot the same calibers.

It's all dependant on what they can get. Logistics seems to forget there are differences. Most shoot Mk262 for a M/16 based 5.56 precision rifle. M118LR (175 gr. LR) for a 7.62 chambered rifle. I don't know what the .300 WM ammo is called or the .338 and .50 cal.

Added: sorry googled it and found .300 WM is Mk248 mod 0/1 Not finding it on the .338 Lapua (they came along LONG after me) as did the .50 cal sniper rifles. I want to say M33 ammo is standard M2 and it's used. There is specific sniper ammo for the .50

Stuff like your M118LR and MK262 is commonplace for your 308s and 556 LR systems. This is different than the ball ammo that is run out of standard issue systems. There are a few threads on this, especially when it comes to the weird clone build trends/cosplays.. Best way to find out what SSPs are currently running is to try out, as they need the bodies.

If you’re looking to run “sniper” ammo, there are quite a few civilian match (non-brown box) offerings that are more consistent and will give you better performance. Whatever you do, don’t by the surplus blemish/floor sweepings or you’ll wind up with the dollar general rejects.

No. Snipers shoot match ammo and everyone else shoots ball/linked-ball.
