Re: What anti-cant level is the best?

I'm glad you have one that works well for you. I had one that was mounted on one rifle and gave a bad reading for what was 'level'. It has to do with the clamp, on some rails it doesn't stay flush as you torque it and I can only assume it introduces some cant to the level mechanism, which reads level on a flat surface, but not on a rifle rail.
I've since read on here about a guy that had one he returned for not giving a true level reading and the reply via email he got was that there was play in the swivel/flip/swing whatever you want to call the non spring loaded mechanism and that was preventing it from giving a correct 'level' reading.
Again, I'm glad yours works. Mine doesn't, and its got nowhere near the use yours does at a premium price paid for it. I don't like paying premium prices for stuff that doesn't work correctly, consistently. I'm not the only one to have an issue with it so its not really a red herring some would make it out to be.
So, in my opinion, get an offset level that doesn't swing or swivel...and I would steer clear of the USO because of the clamp. If it works for you, that's great, you got a good return on your investment. I didn't. I'm glad you mentioned having to pry the claw off with a screwdriver. I've experienced that as well, and its another pitfall of not having a cross bolt. I'm pretty sure a screwdriver used to pry it off, or a nylon punch and hammer, aren't conducive to maintaining a consistent level reading.
