This was a handle we drank about 12 years ago or so. Mixed it with Coke, drank it on ice, shots or straight from the bottle. Hot as hell. Hazmat. Sadly would be worth $2500 today probably. Party on Wayne.

Had this Balvenie 16 with a buddy, it is excellent whiskey but not as good as one would expect for its price point $169. I would think it a $100 bottle.

Well 3 fingers of 115 prideful goat needed to be clanged around a wee bit more than the 94 proof Piggyback on a big cube.

Strong spice on the tongue and a little fire at first on the throat then quickly mellows to a thick delicious warmth coating the pallet and senses.

Don't take it wrong as soon as I get a chance to replace the Piggyback I will, but am putting my source on notice for another prideful goat asap.

Like before he gets to work. lol

So only difference being the cointreau instead of the grand mariner. 3 fingers of rye 1 finger of orange liqueur .

I won't toss the cointreau but favor the grand mariner probably due to 30 years or so of first choice.

Not well off, just choices on how I spend what I have.

Not a huge difference just that the grand mariner seems smoother to me.

Will see if the wife pitches a bitch in her margarita. Hope I survive, I allready got the stink eye tonight .

Ya, not sure what snob decided grand mariner was better. Probably just because he had some to sell but these days price is about the same.

Or maybe what the cabana boy was paid to hustle to the ladies while the men went out to battle sailfish. But it is good.

Update: after beer all afternoon and clanking half the ice cube gone, not much different IMHO.
 
Ok will look some of that up.

Just recently wanted something diffrent than beer, whiskey on rocks or a cola chaser and a obligatory margarita with Tex Mex.
The old fashioned fit the bill for a treat drink.

Strong rye whiskey fit the schedule nicely balancing the sweet factor and ice with bitters.

May have actually woke me up to how any cocktail is made not that I drink many. And I like simple mostly.

But as of late an old fashioned inspired drink has been my favorite treat.

Splash of simple syrup, as much bitters as you want (I prefer a good 12 dashes of orange), 2 oz of Rye and some good ice.

Using some of the other Orange bitters such as Fee Brother's or Angostura Orange lend to some different accents.

Toss the simple syrup and use equal amounts of maple syrup.

Best quality you can find.

Can't explain or justify this "upgrade" but please try it once.

Will never use a sugar cube or simple syrup as long as I live for an old fashioned.
 
Few pages back (not going to bother digging thru it all) someone was bragging up "Diplomatico Rum" and saying it was all that.
My usual liquor store was out of my usual brand, Plantation.
I thought what the hell and bought the Diplomatico even though it was roughly twice the price of the stuff I usually drink.
The shit is nasty, I mean terrible, tastes about what I would imagine lacquer thinner to taste like.....no front or back flavor at all and has that nasty cheap knock off branded alcohol taste like the DeKyper (? spelling) generic $8 a fifth shit.
Ronrico, Bacardi, etc etc, have nothing to fear from this trash (even though they are barely fit to bring to a backyard party themselves).
Anyone need some old paint removed from something ? it's about the only use I see fit for it.

This has been a public service announcement, be wary of some of the shit recommended here in this thread.
It might very well be a waste of $50 or more.
 
Haven’t tried my Cigar Blend yet… mine is Batch 91. It’s based on a Michigan Fruits and Harvest… what batch is yours?

Picked this one up today. It’s lighter then the Russell’s Single Barrel in a good way. Vanilla, Carmel but has a wonderful honey sweetness. Nice oak that’s not overwhelming. It was $79. I would buy again!


Follow up: 2nd Pour; pallet/finish I get some cherry and peanut. Medium finish.

Titos wodka, Amaretto, Kahlua, Baileys, Frangelico, real heavy cream....the shit that pours like tar, a whole tray of ice cubes whipped up in the Ninja blender.
It's hot today, needed something with a serious chill.

BTW, it's about all that's left in my liquor cabinet other than scotch and rum....didn't feel like drinking those.
