I know this got glossed over, but this dude has probably chambered more barrels from more manufactures than just about anyone out there, while also being one of if not biggest rifle barrel sellers out there. He is also one of the few smiths I would trust to make a barrel for me, as I have never heard a bad thing about bugholes/ SPR in over a decade. If this is what Greg thinks, its probably not far from the truth.

It may be a rare time where we agree, but this is so very true. I have 2 barrels in the works with them right now.

My last two are Proof, holy cow! They are accurate and clean easily. Good service with Shilen, Benchmark, Douglas. Was surprised on the ATX, although super accurate, shocked at the copper it collects.

I’m a big fan of CRB barrel so far. Have 1 right now in 6Dasher with about 1500 rounds through it. So far velocity is holding up very consistently. Also the Comp Contour is aesthetically pleasing. 1.1” at the muzzle compared to a .9” m24 barrel is surprisingly visually noticeable.

This button Douglas Chromoly in 6.5 creed on this Rem 700 is SUPER consistent. It's almost as if I CANT make it shoot bad. Cleans super easy and the load workup was the easiest I had ever done. Currently working on this K&P. I feel it's going to shoot as well. Well see what the load workup does.

The rising cost of blanks is a lil ridiculous too. $425ish is Bartlein or Krieger before the last round of price increases.
That's true, but look for free shipping from some venders...if they have the correct rifling, contour, length, etc. Bruno's has such deals.
I usually get what I want from Bugholes or SPR, no waiting on Bartlein, their usually in stock.
Also have used other vendors as of late, on fast rifling twist needed for 2 particular jobs...but ya wait months, for the blank.
But it's only the cost of the barrel blank, to get a new rifle or same caliber going again...if you own the reamers and do your own gunsmithing, it's only $425 plus shipping for a new rifle, or caliber to try.

Right now, Bartlein. I have 2 in use with my 6 dasher and 4 on standby. All in the 400MODBB steel so I won’t be trying a CRB until those are gone.

With respect--There is no such thig as free shipping, you are paying for it somewhere

I'm surprised I haven't seen more people recommend mullerworks. all the benchrest guys who I see winning are currently using mullerworks. that said, brux, barty, krieg, ace, HH, all good.
what determines who gets my business is usually which of those first 4 I listed have the shortest wait times(mullerworks 1 month for custom work currently)

Does Faxon make a good barrel? I bought a 24" heavy fluted match barrel from them for my 6.5CM Aero M5. Seems to shoot ok. Its new and I have wondered if money was better spent elsewhere.
depends what you mean good. I wouldn't consider them anywhere near the brux/bart/krieg/Muller level certainly.
I've had a few cheapo barrels that shot respectably gud, there are ways and luck involved.

With the lesser companies I find that their good shooting barrels are fleeting; here and there, whereas the higher end barrels offer a better chance at success. I've accurized a buddies ar308 with a ballistic advantage barrel and it shot in the .3 area with handloads, but that was one. Most of em dont shoot like that. It can be hit or miss with the mass produced button barrels you see all over places like primary arms and whatnot.
