What barrel length for AR is 6.5 Creedmoor?

Hi,

What are your opinions on barrel length for an AR in 6.5 Creedmoor? I'd like to be as compact as possible, but still maintain long range capability. I am thinking 24 inches would be a good compromise. I am thinking I will get a 1-8 twist barrel from Krieger. I want to use the rifle for informal long range paper punching and occassional varmint / predator hunting. Might only get to shoot 1000 yards a couple of times a year.

Mine is a 20" and can get to 1000..

Can anyone else please chime in here. Krieger barrels are 20 weeks out and I would like to get my order placed soon. I am not looking to break any records at 1,000 yards, but I don't want to make any dumb mistakes either.

Again I'd like to be on the more compact side if possible.

Its not on a AR but my Creedmoor bolt gun has a 22" barrel and it does everything I need.
