I bought a gun sight unseen off gunbroker and they didnt disclose it had a DBM. I had already ordered a B&C Alaskan stock(non DBM) and I am pretty much stuck with this unless someone can suggest a replacement. It appears HS Precision makes a DBM that will fit with minimal effort but they appear out of stock everywhere. Is there any reason I cant just buy a BDL style bottom metal and sell the factory box? Its a hunting rifle build for elk trip.

IF I remember correctly the DBM setup from Wyatts fits the factory BDL inlet just fine. I may be mistaken, but I don't believe you can go to a BDL from factory DBM very easily.

You CAN NOT go the BDL/Floorplate route. The DBM 700 receiver specs are different internally than a BDL 700. Not sure about HS precision bottom metal but my factory 700 DBM receiver sits in a Manner T5A mini chassis and runs fine. I would think any bottom metal that accepts AICS magazines would work as well.

Look into Wyatt's as Rhys says above they fit a BDL bottom with little or no modification needed. You can not go from a DBM to a BDL bottom, the bottom of the action has been modified on Remington DBM's and will NOT work with BDL action components. As in the rails have been opened up and without a box mag to hold the bullets they will all try to push up into the action with BDL components.

Thanks guys...the only problem I see with the wyatts is the mag sticking so far out on a hunting rifle. It would b rough on the back. Thats why i like the hs, it fits flush...if this was for a tac rifle, the badger would b my choice.
