Rifle Scopes what cant mount do I need to reach 1000 yards.

I am trying to figure out what bases to put on my AR creedmoor build. I bought the Bushnell DMR 3.5-21 that has 34mills of adjustment.

If the estimated drop of the 6.5 CM 140 Amax at 1000 is 28.75 MOA that is 287.5 inches. /

so mills is 36" at 1000 yards correct?

so divide 287.5 by 36=7.986

If this is correct I should be able to get a no cant mount and be fine correct?

I may be way off so correct me of any mistakes please. I know there are many here that knows way way more than I do.

Just put a 30 MOA on it for shits and giggles. I'd rather have more than less just in case.
I get 9 MOA per revolution on my scope and it takes 26 MOA to get to 700yds from a 100 zero and 45 to 900 (5 revolutions)

You can easily get away with a flat base but if you haven't bought one yet, get a 20 or 30 MOA base for good measure.
Also, your math is off... 28.75 MOA = 8.36 mils
Convert MOA to mils by dividing by 3.438.
1 MOA = 1.047" at 100 or 10.47" at 1000 yards, meaning your drop is 301"

A 20MOA is a safe bet with that scope you have.

I'd go with a 20 MOA base. Your scope will be more optically centered at distance where it counts the most.

Mixing moa and mils doesent make things easyer.....

As the scope have 34 mils of elevation that means that without any tilt at all you will have approx half elevation availble and that is 34/2=17 mils.

To reach 1000 yards you need approx 8-9 mils so you are safe without any tilt.

What happends if you take a 20 moa base?
20moa=6mils
30moa=9 mils (approx)
45moa=13mils

So then you can ad the 6 mils to the 17 mils you have availible, and you get 23mils availible adjustment.

If you take a 13 mils mount you add 13 to 17 and get 30 mils availible elevation.
