Re: What company makes the best M4 Style carbine??
I have been researching this subject for quite some time, I finally have come to the conclusion, which logo on the lower looks coolest to you.
Uppers? That is where the real pudding pop jello is. Are you after accuracy? Start looking SS barrels, start looking at advertised MOA guarantees, not Joe on the internet who won't produce an example.
After durability? Start looking at chrome lined barrels that are from machine gun steel companies. Noveske, Sabre, etc., these are companies that would advertise their barrel life in round numbers.
After quality? Look on their website to see if they are ISO 9001 compliant, see if your hard earned tax dollars purchase their items. We all have had the great duty at some point of working a Government Contract (mine was precision fittings by Parker) where you literally measure shit on a fitting so many times it takes 15 minutes to inspect it. What is so damn odd is every now and then, you would find a "flaw" that really isn't, but doesn't meet spec and is set to "public" batch. Do some digging and you will find out that there are so few "real" manus of lowers it will blow your mind. People who scream I wouldn't own (insert company name) and only use (insert company name) sometimes neither company makes their lower AND they are made by a different company!
After reliability? This is where things go pure Ford/Chevy to me. My limited time with ARs has taught me one thing, I didn't know shit, I didn't lube well enough so my Bushmaster would not work AS well. Now? It chugs, like a frat boy at a wet t-shirt contest. This is where we just don't know, since it is word of mouth, not a Double Blind Test, its just nonsensical opinions.
Also, be aware, your local gun dealer will more than likely say the best damn AR ever made is the one he has in stock.
I need to add, I am not saying Bushmaster is a top tier at all, just it works, my next AR is going to not be made by them, I am still wrestling with Noveske/LMT/Rainier/PWS/HeadDown(I really like their billet look)
