Gunsmithing What do you suggest to use in a high corrosive environment

Hello and good day
I live in Hawaii and have to keep my firearms literally coated with oil so that they don't rust from the salt in the air. I wanted to ask if anyone had suggestions on what they are using that works for them. I keep everything locked up and run a heating rod BUT if I do not coat my firearms with a liberal coat of oil I notice that they start to develop the beginnings of surface rust.
I am looking for something that won't affect the finish of my firearms, and knives. If you have experienced this problem please let me know what your using and what your suggestion are to minimize the affects of the salt in the air.
I don't live near the beach, in fact I live on the mountain side overlooking Pearl Habor, but there is so much salt that everything rust pretty fast.

The best rust preventative that I have used is Eezox. If applied thin it dries and will still provide protection, if applied thick it dries to a waxy coating.

I live a thousand feet from salt water. I only have 2 blued weapons in my safe. I have used Breakfree CLP for 30 years and never had a problem with rust. I do wipe them down a couple of times a year if not used and cleaned afterwards.

I don't use this on my firearms (because they're all in a conditioned space)- but I lived and breathed with Boeshield T9 on all my boats when I lived on the water here in FL (yes, salt air eats everything). Developed by Boeing, leaves a light waxy residue that doesn't run off like oils do. I'd definitely give it a shot for this application.

I haven't tried that, but everything I've used from boelube has been amazing stuff. I need to grab some of that for my tools.

Boeshield T-9. Comes in a spray can or a bottle. Used it on Kodiak Island for 12 day hunt with engraved, blued Winchester Model 70. Sprayed it down out of the stock to protect the area hidden from view. Not a single spot of rust anywhere. It’s a paraffin coating. Perfect for a long term storage.

I've been using the WD-40 Specialist Rust Inhibitor for metal items (reloading gear, dies etc) I store in my garage based upon that article linked above. It's worked well.

you could always pack them in cosmoline if you are not planning to shoot them for a really long time , not that Its not used for that purpose anyway its a lot messy and probably not the greatest stuff to have sitting around your home but it works . if you are not in the ocean spray I do not know if you shoot , clean and wipe clean if that is not enough or not . We had few guns that were kept down at a beach house for quite a few years with little to no problem , but its all up to you what you want to do . i live in a coastal region as well, here everything seems to rust or pit even the door locks.

I've been very pleased with RIG. I was gifted an old scrap of sheepskin that was greased up with RIG and kept in a zip lock bag. The gift was from my old neighbor who shot bullseye in the day and now mostly shoots his collection of classic military firearms. Great guy, encyclopedic in his knowledge and experience.

A quick wipedown after cleaning and whenever i fondle the rifle has been working beautifully for many many years now. Every once in a while i'll wash the sheepskin and re-lube it RIG and put it in a new zip lock bag.

I've used Eezox and Boeshield as well and they worked well....... but RIG is so cheap and easy to use and i have tons of it left. I also maintain a golden rod in the safe and the rifles are kept individually in Bore Stores so they don't suffer any nicks and dings.

I use this.

I have no idea what is the best product, nor even if the term 'best' has an actual meaning in such cases.

I do know it works for me, and is the product I use to protect the eight Garand ceremonial rifles in my care at the local VFW, that get a lot of long term storage here in Southern Arizona, which has a monsoon season several months long during each Summer. When the family visited Waikiki for a week two Summers ago, I was not surprised to note that the environment was hot and damp, just like our Monsoons.

For lubrication purposes, sliding wear zones are coated with a very light coat of Lubriplate/White Lithium Grease, as is the normal practice with Garands.

I use an aerosol called Prevent. I think it is a thin alox. Some kind of wax. Extremely good on metal parts.

I live on Texas gulf coast literally 5 mi from water and I used barricade to store and corrosion x while duck hunting. No issues and 98% of my duck hunts are saltwater.

I use mil-com (not because of the name)
The oil is synthetic mc-2500.
Tw25b is a grease.
Mc-3000 is a fire ready storage lubricant and anti corrosion protectant, supposed to be good for years?
