What does a POF or LMT buy me that an FNAR doesn't

Re: What does a POF or LMT buy me that an FNAR doesn't

The LMT was built from the ground up to be a weapon of war.The FNAR is simply a browning BAR sporting rifle.Nothing wrong with it but its no LMT I'm sure accuracy is fine for your FNAR.

+1

LMT was a long time in the works and selected by the MOD above others. Also they borrowed heavily from Knights with regards to the lower. This is relavant because KAC had had 308 AR's in use in combat for a while now...counts for something in my book.

POF while not in military use have proven time and again that they can hold their own. If a supressor is in the mix IMO POF is the better option.

Cant comment on the accuracy or reliability of the FNAR but what do you want it for primarily? Remember to factor in the long term and what upgrades or modifications you may want down the line...not much you can do with the FNAR but if you like it as is no worries.

I handled a few POFs in Cabelas yesterday, and one at a local "tactical" gun store. They're very sweet. I know they can use PMAGs.

I can get a new one for $2399 + tax. Is that the better buy, or should I keep looking for an LMT?

I use the FNAR for plinking long range. I'm not really looking for Afganistan hills ruggedness.

However, don't discount the BAR. It started life in WWII, and some version has neem in constant use by the Marines for the last 60+ years. I know the sportter version may be less rugged, but the basic firearm is pretty well tested and established under all different conditions.

There are many standard option that can be changed such as stocks and sites that can be used on the LMT and POF.

The LMT is capable of quickly changing the barrel and caliber.

I can't speak for accuracy regarding the FNAR but my LMT has produced sub MOA accuracy with six of the eleven loads I've tried.

Ruggedness only time will tell but the LMT is heavy duty and the one piece upper/rail leaves nothing to come loose between the two.

The POF free float tube/handguard clamps around the heat sink/barrel nut and bolts on top of the receiver. Two separate parts.

The LMT MWS is machined from one solid piece.

I have set up for customers a few FN FNAR's and they shoot very accurately. I have one customer that shoots his to 800 yards. I haven't seen actual targets, but they will hang with a SA supermatch. I think they are very underated in the accuracy department. They are based off of the BAR, but FN has done major improvements on it. The only PIA is it's mags. You have no choice but tho pay the 55.00 for the FN mag.

Oh plenty of people complain about the AICs mags thats why others are making them now.Even so you only need a couple of them and they are a niche market item.
