i don't have a garage, or a dedicated room, but i did find this rolling bench on sale at costco over the summer and managed to fit it in the corner of my home office.

Just curious if anybody has ordered from strictlytoolboxes and got one of their in house brands. Problem I see with big-box stuff is that the drawers are rated for only 100lbs and are flimsy. Without buying a Snap-On or a Lista does anybody have a good "compromise" toolbox brand that splits the difference between completely awesome and big-box?

I have more money in tools than the price of the house I live in. Kind of sickening to think about.
I use to think that was stupid until two things prove me wrong. Good tools does the job right the first time around. Second it brings in money. I use to own pittsburg tools and I still do but over the years after working on expensive stuff I realize the tolerance was way off and I was destroying nuts and bolts and constantly taking tools back to swap out. I am a firm believer.

not to mention, good tools rarely lose value!

I wont sell my 96 Road King because I would have to retool for a new bike.

My philosophy was if I needed a tool and knew it was going to be used once Ill borrow it. If I thought Id use it twice Id buy it.

While at the HD dealer looking to buy a Jims primary chain locking tool, a little stepped piece of delrin plastic, and the mechanic told me to just stick the handle of a mallet in the chain/gear teeth, I started to question the mechanics sensibility/attention to detail.

Sure the hammer handle works but why would I ruin the handle of my mallet or if I was a real mechanic (which I aint) why am I not getting on the shop bridgeport to build the right tool?

I hear HD dealerships wont even work on older bikes these days. They only want to deal with new stuff. Guessing the mechanics are only capable of fixing problems that the computer link identifies.

Big difference from the age of when owning a Harley meant working on it yourself or any problem was attributed to the loss of any of fuel, spark or compression. Knuckles, Pans and Shovels were everyday riders still in the 90s, now they seem to have all been put off in museums.

I havent ridden the bike in awhile since the kids came along. There is a sidecar in the shed that should be dragging kids to sports games and ice cream.

I also got a 74 XLCH that the chain split on and ripped the top lug off the engine case that supports the kicker/sprocket cover.

Projects for some day that Ill handle out of my Craftsman homeowner tool box. When my stepfather passed I came into possession of his Snap On tools. There is something good about the feel of quality tools in hand.

Now THAT is a man cave.
Where did you install the brass pole?

LOL....Usually the beer fridge on the end is full but my brother in law and his buddies came over Sunday night and de-plinished my stock so that is on my agenda this week to refill. The tool box is full also which makes it nice to work on things. 65 inch 4K TV and surround sound for those rainy days (y)

hard to see the entire set up in the picture but approx. length is 21 feet.

I gotta say, some of you fellas have some really clean garages and tool boxes.

No joke! I need a new job or more time or to get off my ass more or something! Hell im still trying to figure out how to configure my garage and get three cars in with where to put my tools, hang stuff etc. I don’t have a ton of room after the mower, the trailer, the yard crap, etc. but it’s technically a three car garage with entry door in between and room on the sides.

@Tazman I need to see more photos. What does the other side look like?

Getting a lot of questions about the Ranger-- 5 inch lift with 30 inch tires. Power windows, heat, with full stereo with 10 inch aluminum kicker subs molded under each seat. Heated seats and many other features. My hunting rig but I have no one to go hunting with except the wife and she gets bored sometime. I only hunt coyotes but have a couple buddies wanting me to remove some deer for them but I don't care for the taste of it.

Heating and A/C. Hot and cold water for washing and we have a nice drain in the floor. We have some of the stuff from our enclosed trailer inside right now which is why you see the gas stove/oven combo up front. We set it out back sometimes to cook for fun. We are boring people I guess.

Wow, my shit is just piled in a couple free toolboxes my ex scrounged up... I usually buy the cheapest tool for the job. Then if I break it or wear it out, I buy a nice one. It's actually a good way of doing it. The only nice tools I have are the ones I use often. So it's a mix of junk and high end shit, BUT I almost always have a tool for the job and I always have good tools for jobs I do often. The rest end up being specialty tools, gunsmithing shit, etc. In those cases, fishing boxes tend to work better IMO/E.

I need a new vehicle, one that'll mount an M2HB among other shit, wanna build it myself or as much of it as I can. Or modify something. Really wish I hadn't sold all my tools and compressor before joining the army way back when --I used to have it all.

Post #44 my truck box is from them. Love that box

The garage is attached to the house but has it's own heating and cooling. It's 27 x 32. I have a 17 x 32 pole barn with 12 foot walls next to the house as a shop area. I had it spray insulated then had 6 inch mat insulation put over that in the roof and it has heating and A/C in it also. The shop has a loft in one end also. I was limited by the property lines as to how wide I could go which is why it's only 17 feet wide.

P.S....the Ranger is a 2013 but we take really good care if it. It has been buried a few times but we disassemble it and clean it afterwards.

More like too many projects and not enough space! (Although I am kind of proud of my redneck paint booth made of 3 mil plastic hanging from the storage grate above. As hokey as it looked, it worked like a champ for painting a couple of barreled actions and mags.)

Reminds me of a time when I did a little bit of this type work. New Acura SUV, tech spent days trying to figure out what was wrong with it, wouldn’t start. Lunch break one day I walk over there and start talking to this poor chap as he seemed like he was at his wits end lol. He told me everything he has tried and I just start piddling around while he starts something else and I’m eating my sammich. I climb in, look at gauges and was like, “did anyone check the gas?” The gauge was sitting on E! Lmao. He comes around the corner all red faced and furious and was like, “well no!” Said it was towed to the shop cause it just stopped idling and traffic and never would start again. He looked confused and then it dawned on him and he was like, “surely the woman isn’t that stupid!” He just assumed she wasn’t. Turns out with a little gas it cranked and had no issues and after a little research, the woman claimed the salesman told her it was one of these new vehicles that didn’t require any gas!!!!! 😂🤣 Yes, there are people out there that stupid, and they do vote!! I don’t know whatever happened to that situation but it was running fine and the lady came up there that afternoon furious and I guess feeling pretty stupid that not only did she not check, she paid for it to be towed and of course believed he salesman when he said it required no gas. I don’t know what happened to said salesman either. I was cracking up, but nobody else thought it was very humorous lol.

Lol I literally just got done with a car like that last week!!! Customer was jumping up and down too that wasn't it. I poured 3 gallons of gas in it in front of him. Fired right up!! Had a doctor jumping up and down about how big piece shit his Benz was, two year old car and won’t start. Completely dead battery, headlights left on….. ohh. Had another tow her 6mo old Benz back to the dealer raising hell cause it wouldn’t start…… battery in key remote for hands free starting died. Button was getting mashed in her purse and killed the battery. All she had to do was put the key in the ignition like normal. It even gives you a warning on the cluster and says so. I could keep going on with this….

I could do the same! It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be, especially those that make substantially more than I do!!!! Kind of pisses me off sometimes to lol. I’m like you are an aeronautics engineer and you can’t figure out how to operate Bluetooth in your fancy car? Let that sink in for a second and tell me not only how much that angers you, but how scary that is at the same time. Lmao. All I can say is, I feel for you all that still do that type of work. I’m glad I’m done with it.

My old road box. Mechanic for a land based drilling company back in the day.
I use toolboards I got from a Napa store when they put in new ones.

This is the toolbox I made a living with. Still do, most days.

Have other tools and boxes, but this is setup mostly used. Don't have a distributor wrench, but do have a John Deere 4020 starter wrench.
