What happened to us??

Usually what we hate about others is what we fear most about ourselves.
I hate what the Nazis did to the Jew and others, I fear at some time in the near future we may in the U.S. may see gun confiscation, I hate that our Constitution seems to be forgotten by many in power, I fear an out-break of disease coming into the county carried by illegal aliens, I hate to see our young men and women indoctrinated into socialism, I fear that the lack or morals and ability to take responsibility for ones self in our society becomes even more prevalent. These are just examples of the hate and fear I have. I have no secret fear at all that I may suddenly have a change of heart. This statement is bogus. This is like saying, "Those that hate liver, actually want to go off by themselves and eat a large helping". In reality, they just hate the taste of liver, and are not fearing that they will suddenly start loving it. I hate to see so many young men being raised as "girlie men", and I fear the trend will grow and get worse. Do we judge others? Hell yes, that is why we have prisons. We make judgments about others all day every day, in small and large ways. I hate child molesters, I also have made the judgment that they should be executed. I hate drug abusers, child pornographers, etc., I have zero fear that I shall one day decide to live my life as a child molesting/child pornographer, hooked on heroin, I hope you don't either.

Ya think? What tipped you off, having to change you bra to a 42DDD? Photo please?

Basic psychology.

Real men don't judge other men. That's the big mans job.

This is true but real men do make character judgments on who they wish to spend their time with.

That being said - all souls are created equal. However not all people have the same chances or opportunities in life. To add to that , not all people possess a moral compass, level of honesty, sense of loyalty, codes of honor, back bone and tenacity compared to others.
These things are some of the criteria we use to evaluate where we spend our time.

No disrespect to anyone, that is just how I feel about it. With this huge surge in popularity with this type of behavior I find it somewhat unappealing and keep a distance from it.

Somewhat oddly put, but that pretty well echoes my sentiments.

Well put...for a 34 B....LOL.

Awful lot of "real men" here on the Hide demonstrate butthurt at the most stupid of shit all the time...proving that geography or hobbies don't make one immune.

That said, I was in a clothing store a while back looking and came upon these abominations in the "men's jeans" section:

1948115_10103624322450688_8649609592000588031_n.jpg

Yeah, that shit is beyond the pale.

I knew a guy when I was in the army who went to the mall and actually bought some civilian woodland camo jeans and a jacket. Too bad they weren't the butt tight jeans they wear today, but they were pretty bad. Then he wore the shit to formation... That was funny!

That said, I cant grow no beard or chest hair. But I aint never turned yellow at the first sign of trouble. I know my way around the woods, and I picked tobacco, shucked corn, shelled peas, and grew whole lots of peppers with my grandma and grandpap. Raised some goats, horses, chickens, and cattle too. One time my grandpap(deadbeat alcoholic that he was) let the fastest goat we had out the pin just to make me catch `em and teach me a lesson(still not sure what the lesson was). Grandma was twice the man that grandpap was, and her father was Cherokee so maybe that accounts for the lack of hair-growing ability. Yep, I`ma blame injun ancestry for my no-haired chest too!

Your an idiot and your tinfoil is wrapped too tight...

The ones that are quick to dismiss others opinions are usually part of the problem and love big government. As you can see from that list of 45 objectives a lot of them have been accomplished. We are now a country of entitlists. Lets just re-distribute the wealth...sounds familiar right. I work my ass off to provide for my family and now so others can just sit on their asses and collect a monthly check from the government. How many times have we heard now from this administration that the Declaration of Independance is outdated along with the bill of rights....its happening right in front of us!

Go some place quiet and sit by yourself. Preferably this place will be dark. Tune out all other stimulus and just listen........you will hear a constant "Hummmmmmmm". Pick up on the sound and focus upon it, listen to it and heed its sad call. Its the sound of Chesty Puller spinning in his grave at Christ Church Cemetery in Saluda Virginia.

I have seen advertisements on TV by law firms suing drug makers (as we all have), one is particularly interesting, a drug given to tens of thousands of young men that were "diagnosed" as having Attention Deficit problems, these drugs seem to have made a lot of young men grow breasts etc. Horrifying! It is very strange how many young men in the US are suddenly suffering from Attention Deficit disorders! In one generation, we seem to have millions of kids (mostly male) that need to be on medication because they are somewhat "rambunctious" ! Many well known, and well respected experts in the field have suggested this is an abomination, and that 99% of those getting these "zombie like" causing drugs shouldn't be taking them. The very young men that would have normally been out in woods hunting/fishing/ shooting/drinking daddy's beer/ smoking a cigarette-then getting sick/ etc. are now zombie like, computer game playing girlie men. Is there are connection? I think so.

Agreed, for the most part. Narcotizing kids seems to have become a fundamental parenting technique accepted at large and often encouraged by the education system. Unruly kid in class--he's manic and needs medicine. Kid doesn't want to do his homework in lieu of having fun . . . must be something chemically wrong with him.

How this affects growth . . . well, I don't know. But to bring this back to the OP, I do see many students wearing tight pants and tanks tops, stupidly employing a scarf and fedora and the nearly ubiquitous hipster mustache, but maybe that's simply fashion these days. And the skinny jeans thing has been around forever--I remember guys in FFA class in high school competing to squeeze themselves into the tightest pair of Wranglers they could wrangle up; before that guys--in public--would tight roll their acid-washed jeans at the ankles; no one wants to remember the late seventies fashion debacles that most were party to; this stuff is nothing new, really.

Science has proven that 98% of all American men make ridiculous wardrobe choices at some point. It isn't necessarily an indicator of their masculinity, or lack thereof. Are men less masculine than they used to be, according to some older paradigm? Probably, but that's most likely because more men aren't worried about what you think of how they choose to express it.

I used to wear tight black jeans, engineer boots, big square shiney belt buckle black belt along with my blue FFA jacket and thought I was the bomb shit!!!!
Of course I was 16. But back then it was manly not metro!!!

Not all the men are like the OP is talking about.

I still wear Wranglers, work boots and a hard hat or cowboy hat every day to work while packing my .45 and a knife, and sometimes my AR for really remote site work. All of the guys I work with do too.

Wish we could. MD and DC are some of the most tragic sacrifice of gun rights on the planet. Guess we are supposed to beat robbers with a pink scarf or cell phone app.

Hmmm... Could this contradict not only the original post but also most of the opinions on this Thread (including your own)?

Because in that case perhaps it doesn't make sense to dislike people based on the way they act, or dress, or think.

Or, is the point that conformity is the goal because in the past something was accepted by a majority and now the same thing is not?

Either way, both points of view should make no sense to people involved in an activity (gun ownership and shooting) which is neither shared nor accepted by the majority of people.

..... Unless it's just an irrational bigoted position based on hate for other people. Then all the bluster I see posted above begins to make sense.

Regardless, I'm not tracking with the idea that a gun makes someone a man.

Pawprint, you are scrambling analogies.

My point wasn't that some people don't like liver. My point was that some people who taste like liver don't like the taste of liver. Substitute the word 'pussy' for the word 'liver' and you get the idea.

Unlike molesting children, homosexuality and dressing like an idiot are not against the law. So, not only are they not moral equivalents but they're not legal equivalents either.

I do like your example about hating what the Nazis did, because that's exactly what I fear (and what I have seen) that racism and bigotry (and bigots and racists) are capable of, and that's why I try to guard against becoming one.

My point was that when you sign up to defend this country no one assumes that you know what it stands for, but when you dress-up in the flag to espouse an idea it helps to understand on what ideas, and rights, and freedoms the country you inhabit is based. Otherwise you run the risk of sounding like a hypocrite.

Liberty and freedom are not supposed to narrow the corridor of individuality, but rather expand it.

You want to wear your pants around your knees, knock yourself out. But don't expect me to hire you either. You want to wear a pink tutu and blue shoes have at it. But don't get offended when folks look at you and laugh.

Whats a real man? The other day lowlight posted somewhere about having been wrong about something. That took a real man.

A man who gets divorced and hates his ex wife so much he makes his kids pay for it. That is not a real man no matter how well armed he is.

This is all exactly correct.

I have 3 girls. When I go into the mall and see the current population of boys running around, I cringe thinking this is what could be showing up at my door to pick them up. The oldest is 6 right now and I fear it's just going to get worse by the time I allow them to date. Which is still about 20 more years.......

Man second thing in a week you have posted that I can agree with.

There is a huge difference between tolerating something someone does in a free country and embracing and encouraging it. While fs1 is correct that people have the liberty to do those things that degrade our sense of what it means to be a man, we are still the worse off as a nation as we lose the concept of upright manly behavior. There are few problems this country has that wouldn't be solved if men stood up and re-embraced the traditional concept of American manhood- which includes but is not limited to physical and mental toughness, personal responsibility, and assuming the mantle of leadership in their homes and communities. We discourage these things at our peril. Be a man, don't be ashamed of it, and don't let someone else's convoluted modern sense of morality that elevates tolerance as the highest idea of virtue browbeat you into not standing up for what you know to be right. The freedom to believe in any idea is absolute, but that by no means implies all ideas are equal in merit. Don't fall for that lie, for a nation isn't built or preserved on pop culture but on the shoulders of men of principle.

Due to cancer-related Radiotherapy, I have no hair on my chest, back, or in my armpits. Everywhere else is as normal.

I start my beard off in early September. It gets down to well below zero wind chill in the tree strands in mid-November.

That is all...; as in other folks' business ain't mine.

I was in a pawn shop the other day and this rig pig in his early 20's had a few guns he was trying to pawn for an engagement ring. I told him "son if you gotta give up your guns to get the girl you are fucking up". Too many God damned princess's out there these days, just because they are pretty they think they can run the game. I love the look they get when I check their shit.

What I hate most about the guys today and the clothes they wear is that some of them look like chicks with nice asses from behind because they're so goddamn skinny. Its like a scene out of the crying game after I've been checking out a tight ass and it ends up being a dude. I just don't understand how a man can willingly let his thighs be smaller than some forearms.

I hate not being able to determine a male from a female at first glance but not more than at a 2cnd or 3rd glance!

And on a equally disturbing note. The next door neighbor had some relatives visiting and with them was a 7-8 year old boy. The Dad brought him over to see the chickens and ducks. This poor kid was the most feminized little boy I'd ever come across! Grasshoppers jumping in the grass scared him. He was terrified of our friendly dogs and cats. Didn't want to go into the fence to see the chickens or ducks. He was wearing shorts and got scratched by a weed which caused the most dramatic event I've ever witnessed. I made short on the conversation so they'd leave because the whole situation reminded me of most everything else I despise and consider wrong. At least wrong in my eyes.

I don't allow weakness in my house. We don't have to be super men or women but we do have to confront challenges that lay before us.
This means me too.
No exceptions.

This could go either way for me.

If the boy is doing it because he will sacrifice what ever he needs to for her happiness, thats the guy i want coming home with my daughter.

If the girl is demanding that he do this to get her a better ring, she better not be coming home with my son.

Sounds like you are raising a princess. If she wants you to sell your toys for some finger bling a) she is a bitch and b) you are probably a shitty saver. Don't sacrifice useful tools to buy useless objects, that's like lesson number 1 man.

Notice the girl wasnt mentioned in the first scenario. She had nothing to do with the transaction. It was a sacrifice the boy wanted to make for his bride. She will only get one ring/wedding. They build and sell guns every day of the week. The sacrifice for your mate is what is important.
But thats just my view. Maybe people shouldnt sacrifice for their families?

How could you possibly come to that conclusion by reading what he wrote?

Well he thinks material possessions equal happiness and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The Guy had maybe 500$ worth of pawned guns. If his woman wasn't willing to wait a little for him to save up 500$ she is a bitch. He said it himself, she wanted a ring. You know why it works so well with my girlfriend? Our happiness comes from each other, not rings, jewels and crap.
