Looking toA get my x mark tigger reworked. Anybody know of some smiths with experience? Anybody had theres done care to comment on how theres turned out?

American Precision (JJoplin) here on the hide, WNRoscoe might, Terry Cross might, Randy Cain might( HateCA) all of those guys are here on the hide. Why not take it to a local gunsmith?

What about the trigger do you not like?
For me, the x-mark trigger was acceptable in all ways except the heavy (lawyer induced) trigger pull. I used Google to find instructions on how to lighten the trigger, and fixed it myself. It took a little time, but it was free and I also had the satisfaction of doing it myself.

Not looking to cut anyone out of some work but by the time you pay shipping and labor you can buy a after market drop in and adjust it your self for about the same coin.

If you have a trigger pull gage they are fairly simple to adjust but mine is still inferior to my aftermarket triggers.

I know that the X Mark triggers that come on my Remington 700 was pretty easy to setup. It has 3 screws that adjust the forward slack, overtravel, and weight. I also have thought about taking mine apart and doing some polishing of the small parts, but have not gone that far yet. Was able to make a very light smooth trigger pull with a few small adjustments.

I adjusted the pull weight on my also. I just need a lighter trigger that is crisp and creep free. After adjusting the pull on mine, the trigger is still about 3 to 3 1/2 pounds. Also, on occasion the sear doesnt engage when locking the bolt. Not often, but does happen. I dont have any local smiths and the one i talked to in the city said 3 pounds was the minimum by a certified remington smith. Maybe a Timney would be the best route to go. I thought if people were having good luck with the x mark id try that.

I would try doing it yourself first and then send it to some one if you just don't like the feel that you get from your attempts. As a note, the screw to adjust the pull weight is usually pretty heavily coated with some type of adhesive. You may have to take a small pick and pull some of it away prior to getting a hex key on the screw.
