What is causing this? pics

My dad just started reloading .308, he has always done pistol ammo for the most part. Well, the cases needed trimmed as their OAL was too long. After trimming it made a grooved looking cut and when you look down inside the case, the trimmed edge appears to have four marks on the edge located at 12, 3, 6, and 9. Is he pushing a little too hard when he trims? thanks guys.

How does a 35 cal pilot fit inside a 308 case?

Then if the pilot did not get into the case mouth then how did the cutters reach the case mouth. Something is not making sense .

Re: What is causing this? pics

I imagine it was a 25 cal pilot, not 35. In addition, I have had this happen with the correct pilot and using to much force and/or not enough speed with the cutter.
