A pirate gat.Relative bought this at an estate sale.. no info was given any help would be great.
look for any hallmarks or a makers name on the sideplates....that will make it easier to date or authenticate.Any ideas on when this may have been made.
looking at it closer, i do think you may be right.Probably not more than 50 years old. Seriously.
We saw a LOT of that sort of stuff for sale in the bazaars at Bagram, etc. Made in Afghanistan/Pakistan for tourists/gullible people. Not fireable, probably the lock/trigger doesn't even work.
A wall hanger at best. Worth whatever some schmuck will give ya.

I watched a guy bring in a Gen1 Colt SAA to sell at a show. We have a regular dealer who dels only in pre 1898 arms. The guy said a relative bought it new and never really used it. He pulled it out of an old, oiled rag and the dealer and I gasped. It had recently been hit with a wire brush. We asked about it and he said the “bluing” was more brown so he took a wire wheel to it to shine it up.look for any hallmarks or a makers name on the sideplates....that will make it easier to date or authenticate.
if there is too much crud, a gentle scrubbing with a tooth brush and a 50/50 ballistol-water mix should clean it up for you.
just dont use anything abrasive like a wire brush, or a Dremel tool.
