asking cause im thinking about getting another gun but this time lookin for something pretty fun to shoot - esp random objects - already have a nice long range rifle so yeah

also figured it might end up being a decent discussion

1- Easily my M96 Windrunner. I let my 14-15 year old cousin shoot it yesterday. Never seen him smile so much. Missed by a mile but the BOOM, API Incendiary going off, and digging up bullets in the berm made him ecstatic. I enjoy watching everyone else shoot almost as much as myself.

2- My semi-custom 10/22. I love trying the little tweaks for accuracy. Also I can burn through some ammo guilt-free.

3- My AR15. I have a RRA Elite Operator 2 and it is just flat out fun to shoot. I would like to drop in a new trigger and ultimately a new stock and barrel. However as it is right now I enjoy shooting out to 300 with it. As with my Windrunner, a lot of people like to shoot it and I'm more than willing to let (almost) everyone have a 10-15 round trial.

My Saiga 12. I've added a quad front rail since this pic. I got it because I had some gun money and since everything I have is practical, I wanted to do something that was just stupid fun. I have a 300yd home range but there are enough houses around that I don't feel comfortable doing rapid fire with semi-auto rifles as even one missing my berms could be tragic. With a 12-gauge shooting birdshot or buckshot, there is zero worry that anything is in the danger zone.

I've had a lot of shooting buddies shoot it and they agree, it's just good, stupid fun:

I had the opportuity to run a couple of belts through an HK21 that belonged to the Dept. of Energy. It was extremely accurate, easy to handle and lots of fun, but not the most economical gun to buy or feed.

For an all around fun gun to shoot it's hard to beat a nice AR-15 and a bonus would be a sub-caliber conversion so you can shoot .22lr as well.

Well, my all time most fun gun has to be the Thompson M1. As for guns I actually own, currently my 10/22 is at the top of the list because I have been toying around with it at long range. Apparently I'm not patient enough to start long range centerfire shooting just yet, so I'm testing the water with rimfire for now. Can't wait until I get a new match barrel and stock.

I'm enjoying the heck out of my Ruger Mk3 22/45 right now - all guts replaced with Mk2 Volquartsen parts (Mk2 and Mk3).

Accurate and fun lil pistol!

I was shootin' steel at 100 yards with it last weekend.

M-60 Hog in 'Nam, walking patrol. Hefty, but adequate. Issued M-14 became a bodily appendage.

More recently, my 10/22 and dressed SKS (Choate Dragunov Stock, dot scope on gas tube mount. Plinkydink!)

Ghost Dancer 1Kyd Open F Class (Sav 10FP, McM A3 Stock, L-W 28" .260 Rem Stainless Barrel, SSS Trigger and Recoil Lug, KF20MOA base). Currently rebarrelling to .30BR for FV200/FV250.

I would have to say the M61A1 Vulcan 20mm cannon in an F-16. I guess I didn't actually fire it just watched from the back seat but.. it was pretty awesome!

Other than that I would agree with the M1.. should have never sold it.

M3 on an Avenger. We had LAAD come out on our range one time and played the "you shoot ours, we shoot yours" game. They loved the Barretts, but we had a blast ripping off 33 round bursts at the click of a button.

Other than that, I've had a riot doing fun shoots with a 40x rimfire. Creativity brings the fun. Build a goofy diorama, then kill it 40gr at a time.

I built a mount for a friend to put an Aimpoint Comp M2 on a belt-fed, water-cooled Vickers. That gun is SO stable on a tripod. It was great swinging it onto multpile targets at 200 yds. with both eyes open.

Lets see: M60, M249, Mark 19, M203 and M2. Those were the days, free ammo and lots of fun. BTW does a M67, LAW, AT4 and Dragon simulator count; because they were fun too. Also, CS grenades were fun as long as you weren't on the receiving end

45lc ruger blackhawk. best is letting someone else try my hunting loads. 345g hard cast at 1100fps. i tell them to hang on to it but have had a couple almost lose it over their heads. the ar and sks are fun too.

I cut male threads on one end and female threads on the other end of a number of old 12 ga shotguns barrels. They screwed together like long screw in chokes.

I've bought...and then sold a dozen pistols in all calibers, all because I love my little Ruger 22/45 so much. With speed loaders and ammo prices its fun. You can blast away all day guilt free, and take a couple squirrels with it. Yes belt fed guns are a blast, but practically, nothing beats a 22 for cheap fun. Rifles its the same thing, I have guns now that havent left the safe since I got my Mossberg AR in 22lr. It's versatile, you can hunt rabbits, varmints, squirrels, crows, whatever. You can train tactically, or just putz with them. Unless you plan on invading normandy and shooting people...whats the point of having the biggest baddest caliber? I shoot at targets, they don't care how big my bullets are. But I can how much I spend on them

Yes yes I know, 22s arent "man's" guns. We'll compare ammo bills...thats all I'm saying! ha

When I was 10 years old with a paper route [remember those?]
I was going to squirt a dog that was biting me with a squirt gun filled with Ammonia. But the Ammonia dissolved my squirt gun. The Ammonia was ok in an old empty Ivory dish washing squeeze bottle, but it did not look like a gun.

Sometimes a .22lr is fun- a Remington pump action with a Lyman reciever sight- or a Marlin 39A. Plinking steel offhand, or going hunting in the snow with some good iron sights is good fun for low money.

My uncle's friend has a USMC Remington Rand 1911 that his father brought back from Guadancanal and Bougainville. We went out to the desert and put a few mags through that pistol, reverently. The action was still tight and at 25 yards, we were pounding the steel target over and over again. Man, that pistol was a beauty.

When I was 14, my father was a gun designer that sold gun designs to the US army. A government inspector [that we hunted with] brought home a machine gun [must have been an M60] and belts to feed it with every 5th round was a tracer. We went out to the power lines and I shot up an old toilet and a model A Ford Truck. That was 1965. The machine gun had a bipod and said "Colt" on the side.

He also had an M1 carbine I got to shoot that had a lever that made it shoot full auto.

It's cliche, but an AR-15. I just flat out have more fun with that gun than just about anything else. Ruger 10/22 is a close second.

The most fun was the M2 when we were not getting watched. Other than that a AK-74 was lots of fun. As a civilian the most fun is any rifle I can use to shoot down a tree with. I do not care if it takes 120rds.

I keep saying this, but I really enjoy my Marlin 917 17 hummer. It has this sweet thumbhole stock that just makes it perfectly comfortable to shoot.

ETA: just saw an ad by Hornady for a new round: .17 Hornet...centerfire goodness!

Yup...clear the shooter's tables next to you with the muzzle blast if they don't heed your warning...or at least stop most shooters on the line when the concusion hits them.
