For a "tactical" knife, maybe 3V or CPM154?
I've gone back the other way lately, and taken a shine to the handmade, 1095 carbon, wood, leather, forged finish on the flats type of knife. Take a look at the knives made by Matthew Bailey, Daniel Koster, and Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge. You can find them on bladeforums - dot - com, among other places.
