I'm looking for a thermos for my truck, at least one quart, two would be better. I used to have a Nissan that was pretty good, but it's lost it's vacuum and won't keep coffee hot very long any more.

What do you guys use?

Try this one if you like your coffe hot. I used to use it on 11 hour shifts and always kept my coffee pretty warm at the end of my shift.

Primus is very popular in the mountaineering community in Alaska...sold a ton of them. In winter or up high when its winter 365, could have hot cup around noon, all day when pulling into camp water would be quite hot, hot enough to warm the body. Over night is when they were golden, wake up, pour some hot into a mug, sip while still rolled up in the bag while waiting on the morning boil of snow and ice.

Stanley!

I have two I bought in the mid 60's - Made in the USA! They are dented and scratched, but still "keep hot things hot, and cold things cold". I also have a Thermos brand stainless (early 70's), but prefer the Stanley.

TB,

About ten years ago, I regularly was taking some high dollar donors out on birding trips and got tired of ending up in the boonies with cold coffee and tea for them in the winter. So, I finally went out and bought one of every single kind of "thermos" type container I could find. I ended up with 18 if I remember correctly. Only those with stainless steel liners were considered.

I filled all of them with boiling water and put them in my fridge overnight. The next day, took them out and compared.

1. The stand out winner was the floating model of the Thermos brand. They also make Nissan brand fwiw since you liked that.

Here is the model that won. The shape has changed to a bit narrower and longer than when I tested it, but this is essentially the same.

2. The worst performer was the top of the line Stanley all stainless steel one, which is what I was using at the time.

3. In this product area, price does not correlate to results.

fwiw - if you want a hot beverage on very cold days, use hot tea made with boiling water. The water will start off at 210+ which gives it more heat to lose. Coffee from most coffee makers comes out at 140. McDonalds' coffee is 160+ F depending on the store.

Two 1 liter bottles will stay hotter than one 2 liter bottle. Always fill it to the very top so there is no air gap, and they will stay hot for quite a long time.

Hope that helps.

Jeff

Thanks a lot guys for all of the suggestions.

I'm going to try out the large Nissan that JasonK found and the Thermos that jeffbird linked up.
