I just got mine mounted. Here's a side-by-side with an S&B PMII 5X25 for comparison. Can't tell in the pic but it's slightly longer than the S&B. I could care less what goofy rumors are out there...it's a gnarly beast that ranks right up there with the Smitty. I actually like many of the PH features better...the MTC turrets are brilliant.

what happens if 5 or 10 years from now they are out of business?? as much as those scopes cost you could have no repair or service and if you don't need it there could even be a hit in resale value because there is a lack of parts or service. its best not to put that kind of money into a company that even shows a hint of not being stable. just my opinion its your money.

There are no guarantees in life and one look around main street "anywhere" will provide you a good view of closed businesses. No business is immune to the economy...not one. You take your chances and hope the meteor hits someone elses house.

The entire firearms industry is in jeopardy after this past election.

I think I can comment , as I have a 3-15x 50 Premier , actually liked it , until the paralex knob jammed & stopped working , know I have no faith in it , never had an issue with my S&B PMIIs , so at the moment , thats what I will stick with , its s/n is 000025 .

If your Premier is so bad sell it! But please don't tell me that S&B scopes don't fail they absolutely do fail. What model is your 3-15x50 and what reticle does it have? Maybe someone here would like to buy it.

Just picked up my new 5-25 MOA reticle last week, it's been a wait but well worth it! This is my 2nd and I will by another in the future for sure. I like my S&B but the MOA reticle in the Premier is best in my books and they are built like tanks. The op with the parallax issue... Send it back to them and get it fixed, or give them a call your only out a phone call at the least.

I got mine at my local gun club. It took a while I'm guessing 6 months but there is a loooong wait list and I ordered mine when the company was changing over. 2 months is not a long wait these days. Seems kinda funny about some of the talk that has been going on but people still order and are willing to wait. I don't pay attention to it because it's a great product. Premier will continue and I think will be better for it. Like stated above there are no guarantees in life except death and all companies struggle at some point. To each their own.

I have SN 000021 which I purchased used from a Hide member just over a year or so ago. When I noted it didn't seem to be as crisp as my newer, smaller 3-15 Light Tac version, Paul at Premier Reticles had me bring it in (I live 10 miles from their repair facility - lucky me) and he inspected it. He adjusted the optics via a tedious process until it was back in spec which corrected the issue. He also tested several other components while I was there and he upgraded a couple of items (adjustment rings, etc.) to current standards. When I walked out of there, it was like new. All at no charge.
Yours and mine are both very early models which have been around for quite a long time and since I bought mine used, I don't know how it was treated by previous owner(s). Mechanical things do break and as time goes on, PR has upgraded some components. I'm sure they will take care of your issue if you give them the opportunity.
Of course, living in New Zealand (been there many times and loved it) probably complicates your situation. I'd send it in.

working with some marines lately the large majority preferred their Premiers over the S&B's. i spent six days with them and thought both optics were extremely durable, tracked great, and fantstic glass. it was my first time behind a premier optic and i prefer their turrets. just a more positive feeling when adjusting.

For me the Gen 2 XR reticle is great. I like the fact that the elevation lines are half mil with a dash and then a dot. For my eyes and brain it makes it easier and quicker for me to see and know exactly where I'm at.

Even if S&B could still get the gen 2 XR I'd probably still go with the Premier 5-25x56. I have order in a year or so ago with Alex at europtic for two S&B and got two Premiers instead.

Apparently Optronika purchased Premier and wanted equal billing...there's a Premier logo on the other side. There's been no announcement of this that I know of other than the new logo on the optic. I'm guessing it was likely just an acquisition of the factory and brand.

I really wanted the Premier, but I went with the PMII to be safe since the company was having issues. I would still like to try one. I still have my NF 5.5-22 NPR1, but I wanted to go mil/ mil to see what the fuss was about. I like it now that I did. I have only had my new scope for a week now with the MSR reticle.

You are 100% right I will sell IT , BUT as I am not a complete A%$hole , I cannot sell it until the para knob works some where like it should .

IF I lived in the US , it would be sent make to factory , as I donot live in the US , its not really an option .

here's 2 pics of it , it currently on a 300WM rifle , and it appears the locknut is loose & turns with the para knob , if that makes any sense .

I like the reticle , and thougth I would like the mtc knobs and the cam lock levers , but in reality , I donot not like the mtc & also not keen on the cam levers .

I still think they are good scopes , but as the one I have also is a CCW , and all my PMIIs are CW , it makes sense to me to standardise turn direction as much as I can , have 5 PMIIs and 2 Premiers , so when I can they will be replaced with PMIIs .

Chris,

The parallax is controlled by a lens just in front of the turret globe and is connected to the parallax assembly via an arm. A small screw secures the arm to a pin that's riding in a slot leading to the actual parallax knob. As the parallax knob is turned it rides inside of a scroll that moves the lense forwards or backwards to compensate for parallax. It sounds like this screw has backed out allowing the pin to become disconnected from the arm. The parallax knob is actually secured to the tube by a screw that allows the illumination to pass through it and connect to the illumination knob. This explanation doesn't help fix the issue but hopefully helps you understand what's going on with it.

I just checked my PR scopes, both 3-15x50 Heritage S/N 24 and 116, and the nut rotates with the parallax knob on both but the parallax works fine on both. The focus changes and the relative reticle to target image shift changes as it should on both scopes, no difference between the two.

Word on the street - Premier's Assets and IP have been absorbed by Armament Technology Incorporated of Nova Scotia Canada. Paul still operates the service center in Virginia from what I understand under the direction of ATI.

Optronika is manufacturing the scopes for ATI while ATI is selling the product to its distributors.

OK , so the nut is meant to turn , I am buggered then , just recall an issue of the rings tightening enough to bind the scope up was that the para knob or the turrets ?

Premier has been on ATI's website for about a year or more. Also Optronika has been producing the scopes for Premier for a long time also. This is was what Premier said and also Premier's shop would only be doing repairs as full production was only occurring in Germany for the time being. So far I still have not seen a change or any info coming out to contradict this.

It's official. I posted a few questions to the contact e-mail address that is posted on the PH website at about 0200 hrs last night and got a full response from an ATI representative in Canada by 0630 hrs (CST). Long story short: I just purchased a used 3.5-15x50 Tactical and wanted to know if they would work on a used scope. They went out of their way to guarantee me that if ANYTHING goes wrong with the scope they WILL fix it regardless of who currently ownes the scope. Good juju.

I sent off a 5-25 to ATI (or at least their tech) for them to clean some grease off of a lens last week. They should have received it by today, looking forward to getting it back all nice and clean. The two people I talked to were knowledgeable, prompt and helpful.

As the OP of this thread, I made sure to stop by the ATI booth at SHOT this year to find out the status and outlook for Premier Reticles. I spoke to the ATI rep who introduced me to the owner of the company and Paul Lange who runs the Virginia repair facility. They all assured me that any product out in the field would continue to be supported and that new products, no matter where manufactured, would be serviced in the Virgina facility.

Hi Guys,
ATI purchased all the assets of PR the week before Christmas. We put out a press release at SHOT this past year. Someone posted it on here so it should be around so you can read it.
While the manufacturing is being moved to ATI's building in Canada, Optronika is building scopes in Germany. I have a shop here in Winchester and will continue to provide service and technical support for the PR scopes for the years to come.
If you have a problem with our scopes please let me know and I will do everything within my power to make it right.
I appreciate all the positive reviews of my CS. As most of you know I take this responsibilty very seriously and always try to do my best.

The Polish immigrant thing was a joke, sort of like Premier is now. I just used the first random country that popped into my head... sort of like Premier did. I bought one of your scopes because I thought I was buying an American made product. Now they're being made in Germany by a random company while you gear up to start production in "North Mexico". BSA has been making optics for quite a while too. Kia has experience building cars, but I wouldn't buy a Ford truck if they built it.

I thought I was buying an American made product.

I'm pretty sure a few years ago there was some argument about to what extent the scopes were "made" in America. I thought Premier's then owner got on and eventually admitted that the scopes were assembled in the USA. The parts, if I remember correctly were sourced elsewhere, including Asia. I am somewhat curious as to the current status of where parts originate and whether they are currently "made" or assembled in Germany and, likewise, what parts, if any, are going to be sourced from North America when they are "made" or "assembled" in Canada.

Please note, I am not bashing or being disparaging in any way. I own nice things made in both Europe and Asia and I don't have a beef with it. But many are curious and many others like to buy things made in a particular country if they can. For example, when I needed a truck I wanted to buy one made in America (or at least "assembled" here). I wound up with a Toyota made in America because the F-150 was made in Mexico. The times we live in...sigh.
