Rifle Scopes What is the opinion of the Bushnell HDMR and DRM scopes?

I've got a Gen 1 HDMR and a Gen 1 XRS and I like both of them. The XRS was my first jump into a scope that's more than a mortgage payment and I'm pretty pleased with it. It has always tracked well, the glass is decent.

The HDMR I picked up for cheap and havent used it much yet.

I prefer the XRS with 10 MILs per rev vs the HDMR and it's 5. The new DMR and HDMR scopes have 10 per rev, though.

I have the HDMR2 and for my purposes it gives up nothing to my NF scopes. I can buy 2 HDMR2 scopes for about the price of another atacr. I love my NF scopes, but I don’t see the purpose for my application to buy another.

I have a DMR2. I originally had the 1st DMR with the 5 mils turrets, it failed and It was replaced with the current model without question.
I think the scope has good features and I like the G3 reticle but the G2 was better.
The clarity of the optics is pretty crappy though. Shooting groups at 100m sucks because it just won't focus well enough.
I'd like to upgrade but just can't afford to, so I make do with what I have.
I wouldn't buy another.

I have the DMR and the HDMR now and really like the HDMR knobs and adjustment a bit more than my DMR. However, after the scope is dialed in I use the H59 in both scopes to make all my adjustments without touching the knobs. So far I love them both but wish they had lum in them

The DMR2 (including Horus models) is a solid scope. I'm partial to the DMR2 Pro, which has the same ED Prime glass from the XRS2, but it only has the option for a non-illuminated G3 reticle (no Horus). I've got the DMR2 Pro on my LR gas gun, and XRS2s on my match and training bolt actions. They're all solid as hell, track beautifully, and can take a beating.

Have you contacted Bushnell about the DMR2? That does not sound right to me. I have and older HDMR with the 5 mil turrets and focusing at 100-1000 is fine. Maybe something isn’t right with your diopter or the focus/parallax on yours, but 100 should be an easy view on that scope.

I'm a fan of Bushnell. I have 3 Elite Tacticals, and find the features, glass, and turrets awesome for what they are. The Gen 2 DMR's are great scopes. I have a Gen 1 DMR and XRS and am happy with both of them but the lower profile turrets on the Gen 2 DMRs are awesome. If you are a fan of the H59 I don't think you'll regret it. I personally like the G2/G3 reticles that they use.

I haven't contacted Bushnell because I just thought that this is how these scopes are because I know others who've said the same.
The DMR2 has some great features, but it's just not in the same league as the more expensive ones that I've looked through.

I wouldn’t argue that the DMR/DMR2 are the equal of high end scopes that cost 1-1/2 to 2 times as much. But compare them to the other scopes in the same price range and you’ll be hard pressed to beat them.

In any case, you should check with Bushnell. That scope should be clear and more than capable of focusing at 100 yards/meters. I use mine on my .22 LR rifle for matches.

Having used several, all in the elite line, DMR2, HDMR2's, and a few XRS 2s, I am absolutely a fan of Bushnell. I got into PRS a few years ago and like many of the newer guys here had the same questions. Which caliber which scope which dies which ballistic app etc, it's a right of passage we all take.

Every post I read where somebody's looking for a good quality scope for long range shooting, I want to tell them the most affordable truly high-quality scope they can buy is a Bushnell DMR II. There are so many reasons this is true, tracking, build quality, turrets, image quality. But nobody wants to hear that.

They want to spend their money on the oversaturated market of $800-1200 options. If they spent just a few hundred more dollars they could have got a Bushnell DMR II or hdmr II and had an optic they could have used for many trouble free years.

While many folks don't consider 1500 to $2,000 optics as the affordable option, these Bushnell optics are an absolute steal when compared to their peers. I've looked through a lot of $3,000 + optics and never once considered selling any of my Bushnells to purchase one.

I've only shot out to 1200 yards with my XRS 2'S/DMR2/HDMR2'S in PRS matches, but I have never felt limited in any way by the optic. Then of course Robert Brantley won the king of 2-mile ELR match in Raton New Mexico this past summer using a Bushnell XRS 2. In my opinion Bushnell hit it out of the park with this new line of elite tactical scopes.

I put together a new PRS rig with a foundation stock last week, Curtis Axiom, bartlein 6.5x47, TT diamond, of course with the trusty Bushnell XRS 2 on top.
