What is wrong with the SSA?

I'm leaving to go to Hawaii for work on the 21st, we're working At the navy base . Any way I'm told yesterday that I need to go to a local base to get a " pass" fir the base in Hawaii. I'm told that the only thing needed is a DL and a social security card. I lost mine, so I take off work a little early, get down there and they're closed . A guard comes out and says they've closed 30 minutes ago, and that they always close at noon on Wednesdays. What the fuck is wrong with this picture? I'll tell you what ! We pay their salary , and they get to work " half days" ! I have to be at the base at 8 am in the morning , and the ssa diesnt open til 9:00 am! Fuck em!

I had several files of documents come up missing thanks to my twin 6 year old girls. Luckily I have copies elsewhere. Nothing else that was misplaced or moved is important. I don't carry around my SS card! Yeah and like I said " fuck em" they work for me! So I'm back here today to resolve the issue .

Tough guy , I'm glad I didn't lose my DL. Simply because it takes a SS card to get a replacement DL. At least in Alabama anyway. So if my DL and SS card came up missing at once, I'd be screwed. Except for maybe my passport. Which has saved my ass from time to time.

If your dl and ssn came up missing and you have made no contributions to someones champagne fund in DC you would probably be exiled to Pak ee stand or Iran.

They weren't closed, they only handle US Citizens from 11:30 till 11:59 and the rest of the rest of the time they are only open to illegals

Probably true Hillbilly, the last time I was in a SS office many years ago , I overheard a young pants sagging thug describing his " drug induced schizophrenia " and needing assistance. I started laughing out loud at some point . It started a small ruckus. I was asked to leave. On the way out I mentioned loudly that" I only wanted a SS card replacement and not a govt handout" I was asked to leave by a stumpy , dumpy little security guard. I just couldn't help my self from laughing after being stuck in a chair for over 2 hours!

Could you use your passport or other gov. ID instead of you SS card?

I've been on and off of a whole lot of bases and I've never shown a SS card. I've had to show my passport to get unescorted access in some secure areas (like shipyards where there is work going on nuclear subs) but I've worked in locations ranging from Portsmouth NSY, to secure areas of APG, to the incinerator at Anniston and never needed a SS card.

BTW, last time I had to get a replacement original SSC it took an original birth certificate with raised seal from the county, my DL and they mailed it in a couple of weeks. You don't walk out with one.

There's one of (4) places to get this clearance for the Pearl Harbor base. Mayport, Fl, Norfolk , Va, San Diego ,Ca and Pearl Harbor . My SS card will be in by the time we leave . I'll have to do the clearance check in Pearl Harbor when we arrive. It's some kind of " Fast Pass" that you have to go through.
