What is your ideal shooting range ?

If I may ask, just out of curiosity, what are the annual property taxes for that land parcel?
A lot of times if you get zoned as agricultural, you pay almost nothing. And you don't need livestock, just a friendly assessor. We pay something like .07% property taxes.

Only downfall is that I usually quit shooting about now until fall, with exception of a couple targets due to fire danger... <unless receiving measureable rainfall>

I would like to test that theory....can you start a fire shooting lead at steel? I’ve been shooting a lot of steel at distance and I just can see it happening...I could be wrong bout I’ve never seen sparks off a steel target or rocks? Who knows

I can’t even comprehend that....oil and gas?
Yeah. Shell has been pumping oil on the property since the 60s and Mercury Blue has been extracting natural gas sine the 90s. Back in the 70s the dividend check was $4000.00/ bi-annually per member for about 40 family members. All the dividends are put into a fund to cover taxes, road up keep, fencing, etc.

Absolutely its possible to start a fire. Shoot a steel target at 400 yards just before /right at dark in a safe location (green... low fire danger after a good rain) and report back.

(FWIW, In addition, it is possible if you started a fire that you could be charged with negligence, and responsible for suppression costs if negligence was proved. Easily costs can run into the millions of dollars on larger fires.)

Now back to your favorite range

There is something about those open spaces that just yanks at me 'come here......' I flipping love it out west. If I was at your shooting mat I reckon I'd just sit there and gawk at the beauty for a while b/f getting set up. Flat beautiful man jealous!
It's almost a shame to shoot in those beautiful mountains. Kinda' like farting in church.

Man, it is brutal. This may be the hottest day we get this year. And now we have lightning. If I wanted to live in Florida, I would have moved there.
Hah, it was 91 Tuesday, 97 yesterday, 102 today, 98 tomorrow. At least it's a dry heat.
I've been working at the range getting ready for a big 3gun match. It's been brutal.
Supposed to cool down to the 80's for the match next weekend.

Damn, you must frequent some public ranges or something. In a lifetime of shooting I can't ever remember anyone trying to touch my firearm without asking.

And if they ask nicely, I'm usually more than happy to talk about my toys, even let them shoot them if they don't seem retarded.

the range I was shooting at went to 1100 yards, but the far targets are surrounded by brush and it almost impossible to see impacts.
New one I'm switching to goes to 1700 with elevated shooting platform and nice dirt berms for easy spotting.

Someday, I'll own my own land somewhere like the pictures above... assuming this inflation doesn't price me out of my own home first.

Went to one in Sebastian, FL 3 years ago. Some fake special forces guy and his fat out of shape tacti-tard son were circling around my stuff and trying to grab at them while I was firing and my friends were standing behind me. I'm primarily an iron sights purist. Their shit had all the tactical looking stupid shit and they still couldn't hit a target from 50 yards away. If they asked permission to touch my stuff, I'd have let them. However, asking wasn't their priority.

If I still lived in WA, I'd search Google Maps of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and spot some niche shooting areas. There were some real good wide open areas between Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams. There's also a long distance gun range near the tri-cities (Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco) and near Ontario, OR.

Speaking of phony special forces types. I've been coming across an awful lot of phony Green Berets lately. What happened to the phony SEALs? Are they afraid of getting a phone call from the legendary Don Shipley?
